Swift deserves all the bad press, talk they get...........

as i mentioned in someone else's thread, several months ago on the radio show "Overnight", it was reported that Swift was averaging 1 fatal wreck per month. this same report was in at least one of my truck magazines (LandLine or OverDrive, i can't remember which). so there you go, they hire a huge amount of student drivers, and with-in a 3 month period, they ask a rookie driver to become a driver-trainer (yes, less than 3 months of driving....!) you can give any rookie the newest truck all the miles (just to keep them), but if those drivers are unsafe, inexperienced, a brand new trailer, or a brand new tractor stills looks horrible when they are totally destroyed..............

Swift was under federal investigation for all those accidents, and they were looking into the overall safety record, which i venture to guess, that a 1 fatal wreck per month, don't look too good.

then there's the former owner, Jerry Moyes, who made some "wheeling and dealing" and got caught by the S.E.C. (securities and exchange commission).

now, sit back, and honestly tell me that the Swift company doesn't really deserve all the flack they bring onto themselves...............

a career change is always difficult. what works for some people may not work for you. just because members of your family have driven, you might like that idea, but find it hard on your lifestyle. driving a truck, presents may inconviences daily that you will simply have to learn to cope with.

ok, that being said, i would recommend whatever driving school with-in your traveling distance of your home. as for a good enough company to get on with, i would recommend Schnieder if they still take students these days. Schnieder had a driving school in Wisconsin i believe, that was very good at one time. how it might be now, i do not know.

you're going to have to "pay your dues" after you graduate from school, for about 1-3 years before the hometime, money, lifestyle adjustments kick in.

good luck to you.
