See if you can find a small local company that doesn't hire from DAC. I know they are out there. I drove for one, its a company that I am glad I'll never have to go back to now that I have experience, but it was a stepping stone at a time when I needed it.

Did you get a min. of 1 yr of experience after Knight? I think ALL co.s can forgive a fender bender if done in the 1st year of driving. You might have to go to some straight truck (bus, cement mixers, etc.) Class B driving for a short time to get back it. Also, give construction a try.

Hello every one, new member here. After looking over this forum for an hour or so i came upon this topic and felt that i should chime in. I drove for Knight Transportation ( Charlotte N.C. location ) for two months and after the constant lies and abuse that was long enough. They would not maintain their equipment in a manner that i felt a nation wide trucking company should. They ran their drivers much to hard with very little rest time available in order to make an on time pick up or delivery. Although during the time i was with them the new changes to way log books were done had not been implemented yet so that very well may have changed since. The pay was like most of the larger companies today....less than adequate and their home time ( if you could call a day and a half home time ) to put it simply, sucked! To be fair this is what the trucking industry for the most part has degraded into and it is a said thing to see. This company was the one of the reasons i decided to give up OTR driving because after 6 companies in 7 years with ( 15 years seat time total ) the same out come as this one i felt that the industry had nothing but lies and deceit to offer a professional driver. I am not condoning the things this individual posted to the members of this forum but with the aggravation and resentment that is a result of the treatment that drivers receive from most companies today and having experienced it first hand i can understand where he is coming from.

Up front, Knight does have its problems---turnover rate is as high as Swift!! I dont have your experience cause I run out of the main terminal in Phx and run the Left coast. I am home every weekend for 3-4 days. But I agree on one thing, Knight REALLY wants drivers with only 1-2 yrs experience, cause experienced drivers not only start out at the same pay, but know 'BS!' Newer drivers dont yet! So, if you are an experienced driver at Knight, you will have problems---I am 'now' demanding and dont put up with, they know and allow for that!

knight transportation

hello everyone i just joined this forum and am very new at this so please be patient with me if i don't know the "ropes" any advice is welcome...
i have been driving since december of 2002 and have worked for 7 companies ...some okay and most not ... i love driving and truly want to be a part of the solution ... i have been trying to get into safety or training because i'm an idealist and want to make things better for drivers.
my eyes are wide open to the decietful practices of most dispatchers, recruiters and other administrators in our business who have no concern for our welfare or career. we need to check out prospective employers as much as they check us out. it's hard because they hide behind big advertising and company schills who lie. i currently work for knight since october of 2006 and yet again fell for a recruiters "lines".
they may be great for students or semi-retired persons but they don't
pay a fair wage for experienced drivers and don't pay and incentive pay willingly. i consider myself a good driver i make my appointments on time ,dont mess around and communicate to my dispatcher. more later...

Hey truckinbill....hello. I'm new to this forum also. A newbie in this industry at least only have a bout 50 thou in a rig and the was 7yrs ago with the big blue screw. Have a mil in the bus industry and just signed on with the Big Pumkin. I agree from the research and friends I have in the industry you got to keep your eyes wide open. I almost went with CR England, glad i didn't. The big Pumkin gave me a offr in writing I couldn't refuse. Dedicated home state account. Salaried postion of 35,000 the first year and off Sunday, Monday. How are things going at knight?
