There ya go. That's all you need to go out and show them Knight drivers whatcha think of em. Tailgate and give them dirty looks, you know the drill.

You gotta remember where a lot of these people come from. Most have never worked really anywhere except McDonalds or Taco Bell, you give them $775 a week and that is more than double and almost triple (or in some cases more) compared to what they have been making.

As far as the tailgating and trying to run the Knight drivers off the road, you dont have to worry about that. When I drove for Knight, I had tons of that everyday out on the road. Or those drivers who you come up behind them and they are gabbing on the cell phone and bopping to the music and doing their 55mph and then you go to pass them and then all of a sudden they wake up and then they pace you for 5 miles and then they decide to let you over. There are several companies out there that are real good(almost pros) at this stupidity, but I wont mention names here but anybody who is out there everyday knows EXACTLY which companies drivers pull this unsafe activity everyday of the week (I think that they get told to do it in orientation, kind of like the companies who run their fog lights all the time whether they need them or not)

Like I have said before, a lot of the way that these guys are treated is due a lot to the attitudes that they have when they get to the company and think they are gonna run it the way they want to run it, but the problem is that they have not even pulled their weight or did their dues to really complain at all. I never had any problems with Knight, I got plenty of miles and was home every single weekend except 3 for 2.5 years that I was there(and I chose to stay out those 3). I left because the grass is greener(as in money) on the other side. This is the only reason.

So many drivers lie though its hard to tell. "Oh, I tuk hum non hunderd dolla's las wuk". Yeah, and $300 the week before.
Net was over $2500, and I was out longer than most drivers. But yeah, if you want to get rich, and get the long hauls, and big money, this isn't the place to be, but I'm not on the per diem plan, so I also have over $1100 in deductions for the month, right off the bat.

Could be better, could be worse. I can't complain too much about some things, after all, I'm in a brand new truck! But like I said before, I did have some down-time for repairs, so we shall see how this month goes. Right now, I guess I'm not getting the big money, but from the CB talk, nobody is getting the big money unless you are rolling doubles or triples and you have Reddaway on the side of your trailers.

Reddaway no longer exists! But I get your point. Personally I was on the per diem at Knight. Im not sure why somebody wouldnt want to be on it. You actually make a little more, even with the deduction. If you are planning on living out your life on Social Security then I would guess that you would care, but then again if you are planning to do that, then why bother working at all, you can make more on disability than you will make on that, providing it is still there when you retire--Im not even considering that fact! ANy money that I can get by with not giving our illustrious government who is just using our money to bail out it's personal contributors(i.e. banks)I will do--hence perdiem if the company has it!
I was out approx 20 days a month(averaging 5 days a week), I picked my own loads, and I was home every weekend except 3 in the 2.5 years I was at Knight. I was never down for repairs, if the truck needed a pm or repair I got into another(ALL of their yards have at least 3 extra trucks for this reason)I averaged $900 a week take home. I had one of the first Volvos that they had(had 14 miles on it when I got it) I guess your dispatcher doesnt like you or something. Oh and BTW, I never sat around at customers either without getting paid for it, even when Knight didnt pay for that, they knew my deal when I got there. I left, like I said, for more money. I now average $1100 a week takehome and am home everyday and I dont work for the union(nor will I) either. Yes I pull doubles, but that only gives me an extra $80-$100 a week depending on whether I pull doubles 4 days or 5.

I guess the next time I'm at a different yard than home with a shop I'll force them to give me on of the knackered out cows they have laying around in the yard.

If you are on any per diem plan, you are losing money hand over fist. I'd much rather take the $38.50 a day over the $9 a load you might get. But hey, it's your cup of tea, not mine.

But I think you are right about my DM hating me, that dumb butt keeps me running. I should slap that frat boy upside the head and make him knock that off right now.

The per diem isnt all that its cracked up to be. Ive done both and I made more without per diem. The examples they show you in class are spiced up to look really good, but they dont take into account everyones tax bracket or how many you are claiming for taxes. Per diem can be good for some, but not good for everybody like they say. Talk to your CPA and they will tell you whats best for your situation. I did per diem for 4 yours and then stopped, I cant believe I actually take home more per week, plus the write off at the end of the year... But this subject should be at another thread, DRIVE SAFE

"Actually, his post did have improper content. "Richard craniums" is a rather amusing euphemism."

... yes, I found his use of the term nearly as amusing as his spelling issues.
