Well im my case, I was the students 4th trainer in 70 hours behind the wheel before I got him. The guy just wasnt a truck driver and I wasnt the only one to see it, but the company wanted that government money so they just kept pounding that square peg into the round whole til I ended for him and them, which is why they suspended me.

Well put it this way, there should be absolutely no teaming while training, period!!! The trainer should always be up front while truck is moving. How can a person be training while they are sleeping?? This practice needs to be outlawed period!!!

Well with them suspending you from training proves your & many others who have a lot of common sense, which shows these training outfits are not interested in any way shape or form of properly training these drivers! They are only interested in the big $$ they get for supposedly training these new drivers! It's an absolute joke! They talk so much about safety, but they are the biggest hypocrites on the planet when it comes to this issue! You did the right thing by bringing the student back to terminal.

YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T LIKE ANY OF THE TRAINING COMPANIES...and are very quick to condemn them for anything and everything wrong with this industry. You have obviously never been a trainer...am I right?!

You don't even know one tenth of the facts of the accident...you have already put the trainer and the student driver at complete fault. I will put my position from the original thread over here for you to peruse...
Don't lay blame until you know the facts!

Well in thier defence, not that I want to defend them, I did have a lot of good students that did end up properly trained. Several still talk to me alot. This one was just not right for the indusrty, and unfortunately part of the job of training is weeding them out. They were irritated at me but I was re-instated a month later.

Well for one thing I have been a trainer before, also a lot of the way some companies train is a disgrace. Not all of the companies training have bad programs but the ones that do need to change or cease training ops! I'm sorry but if a person is not compentant enough to drive a motor vehicle the sure as heck shouldn't drive a darn truck. I little common sense goes a long way. Like pulling over to shoulder & not continuing down interstate at 5 mph! That's just plain stupidity at it's worst!

I am glad you can see the trainers perspective!
No arguments from me on that one!

This is very true! Until there are FMCSA Regulations with regard to this issue...I hate to say it more regulations....but this will not get changed without authoritative intervention....but it is needed for sure!
You won't want to hear this...but when I was training...(Swift, keep your shirt on driver...LOL)...I can remember several students assigned to my truck that had ZERO experience behind the wheel of a Pinto let alone even a Ryder rent-a-truck....they didn't get to even start my rig once I got that info! Scary isn't it?
You are assuming again....that people actually have some common sense....lately...it appears NOT!
Again you are assuming the "facts" from the article are actually that....fact!
There is another post from someone that brings to light another untold version of events transpiring before the crash...this thread or the other, not sure as I type...but you can check and see it....the CRST was moving with his 4 ways on....perhaps there wasn't sufficient shoulder to get pulled over without hanging in the traffic lane....I know up on 80, in that area there are some places where you can't get completely off the road surface and would be sticking out in the travel lane. so please hold your assumptions until we can get the complete story.
    See above response section.

i wonder exactly what government programs pay these companies to put all new drivers on the road every year.
the country is bankrupt and these ata companies should be barred from abusing these programs
a company man was stabbing me on here last week because i quoted his companies web site requiring you too quit your job before they hire you.the must get obama money for hiring the unemployed too.
