    Landair, what was i thinking

hello,I also worked at landair as a company driver and what a mistake that was. They tell you that they are driver friendly, well let me tell you that they are not.I was told that if any problems arose to call and they would fix them ,well when i called it was always the drivers fault. My dispatcher was horrable to me from the first day, and during orientation a lot of drivers had to be sent home because they didnt have trucks for them , now what kind of place brings people to orientation every week and has this everytime.I would set more waiting to get a load then i would run . And they also tell you after that if you dont stay at least 90 days they will keep like 250.00 of your check for early exit fee.I would not recommend this company to anyone, they seem to be having trouble keeping people in the offices as well as drivers.I didnt ever talk to a driver who was happy there. And yet i was told that they were the minority.I asked for a load back to greeneville ,tn so i could turn my truck in and let me tell you that was like asking for the world. When i got there i met a driver who was told he failed the driving test after he had already passed it,and this was because he spoke up and said if they sent him home because they didnt have a truck he would find another job, and they said they dont tolerate that.Well i dont know about the owner op deal but,as a company driver the miles werent their ,and it was like being being in school, thats how they treat you, well good luck to those still there and looking Iam just glad i didnt put more than a month in with these people. As i said before i wouldnt recommend them at all, but to each his or her own good luck all. sincerly flash

    forward air?

would you happen to know if this is affecting Forward Air, since they are
sister companies? My husband and I were thinking about going to Forward
Air because we are experiencing something similar at the company we are
at now,(not quite as bad, although if we hadn't had family to loan us money, I'm not sure and we are just hanging on a thread right now). Anyway now hearing this we don't want to go from the frying into the fire.
Any info would really be appreciated.

I know this is an old thread, but in the event anyone wants to know a little about Forward Air: I drove for a company leased to them--not an Owner Op. However, you are usually picking up at air terminals, or at their distribution centers almost always near an airport. You also pick up freight at places like Continental Air at Newark, NJ. Once you learn how to get to these places-the rest is easy.

My loads were almost always loaded on time-about 11 pm because I ran the freight that came in from overseas that morning. However, you do haul other freight (usually all extremely high dollar) from regular shippers-all their frieght is no-touch of course. You usually have to run straight through like you would a FedX load, and they will call your cell phone every four hours to check your status. However, I can honestly say that the people at Forward Air were always extremely polite and I did not have to wait long if I called them. Also, I never had any problem with getting repairs done to their trailers-never a problem. The few bad points about them-they have a shortage of trailers on the yards in the event you need and mt, and the people in the office at the Forest Park Ga were the only rude and unhelpful FA people I encountered (even the guards acknowledged they were). Overall-if you like to run nights, and full-out, they seemed ok to me. Again, I was a company driver leased to them. I quit my company becuse of wage issues so I don't haul their frieght now.

The owner operators run the same-but many are teams, and some of dediacted runs and are home every other day.
