My last post on the subject of PTL was September of 2007.

I Worked for them for over 15 years.

Between my two friends and myself we had a total of over 50 years experience in a PTL truck.

PTL is a great company for new drivers...

The best part about working with Dennis and Morris for so long is that I REALLY appreciate the company I work for now!

PTL provides an important function in the industry. It hires drivers that nobody else will.

A positive attitude will take you a long way, It did for me.

But, It seems like PTL dares you to stay there as a driver.

    Good luck.

    your gonna need it!

first if you are in a hotel, then you just hired on and ain´t got a clue for what your in for! Lol!!!! I drove for them for a long time! Ptl will make you so very sorry you went there! They have about 950 trucks and go through at least 2000 drivers a year!!! What dose that tell you? That´s only 40 drvrs per wk x 50 wks= 2000 they really go through more! Wake up and do yourdelf a big favor. Find a better job!

Well I hope ptl told you that they have no trainers lol. They take two rookies and give them a truck. And all their trucks are garbage. Other than that they aren't a bad company.

I am currently working for a smaller company that has probably the same fuel program. Half the time what it does, on a trip from Minneapolis/St. Paul to the East Coast, is have me fill in Gary, IN or Eastern IN or Western OH. This leaves me on the East Coast with 1/4 tank of fuel. I found a nice way to override that problem. Drive about 100 miles past the authorized fuel stop, call them up, and say "oops, silly me, I must have cough-cough forgot what exit that was at. It just slipped my mind." Much of the time it will make you fill up at a small, rat hole Pilot or Love's, the ones where there are 3 inches between parking spaces, fenders geting ripped off and trailers getting ripped open, overcrowding, crime and rape every night. The ones where you fear for your own safety. The smaller outfits won't fill there, so the bigger companies get huge discounts for forcing their drivers to fill up at these dumps.

My company gives me some grief about it but at least they will let me redo it and find me a different one. And yes, they have the ability to get you another fuel stop. You have to drive a certain distance, like 30 or 40 miles past your original fuel stop for this to work. If your company says no, they are lying.

But I am running from this and all other large companies who have Quallcomm and these bogus "fuel solutions" programs, never coming back. Too many paper pushes who have never driven a truck pushing their micro-management agenda. I don't care if it saves them money, it wastes my time and my money.

My husband is at Murray waiting for orientation tomorrow. He has heard many horror stories from the other PTL drivers in orientation. Should my husband leave before orientation?

Hard to say. What is one driver's nightmare is another's Xanadu. If he is not comfortable he should excuse himself. Have him ask question and try to make sure everyone is on the same page. And don't believe anything that is not in writing. Wish I had better advice. Others here may be able to help more.

If he is already there I think it would be wise to do the drug screen because I remember reading where someone walked out of orientation and they dinged his DAC with failing to take drug test.

I worked there 2 weeks in 2007 and they absolutely sucked. Bad thing is they have not bought one new piece of equipment since then and I thought there trucks were ragged then.

All is true.lol.. I went this week to orientation. About 24 of us. They will hire any and all drivers that come thru the door. Promise them a truck and miles..lol.. You dont get either of them. This girl worked their for two weeks got a load for only 800 miles in a week, then had to wait for her truck. She then got her truck to sletp in it behind the hotel because they didnt have a load for her....:(
