I don't think they are unfair. PTL is WAY better than most anyone else I have checked into. You are the first negative I have heard on the company driver side. Infact my orientation class had at least 6 return drivers. Most of us were new drivers, and they told us in class that they didn't expect maybe 20% to be here in a year. Most of the new drivers have no clue what to expect out there. I missed my 17 year wedding aniversary, 1st one my wife and I have EVER been apart for.

I am not sure what you expect from them, but this is a trucking company, and a good one for drivers if you work with them. And they will work with you back. I am sorry if you are not having a good time. I am having a BLAST!!!
You are waiting to get 'UPGRADED" ? Must be a Rookie driver that don't know a bad trucking company when they see one.

Aparently you have NOT been working with PTL as of yet. There is only a hand full of drivers that have worked for PTL over 3 years. Your best bet is to talk to one of them and they will give you the real story. My advice is dont brag to much it will come back and bite you. Try to get home twice a month it wont happen. Good luck with that. Yes for every 6 out you get 1 off BUT you will be out atleast 3 weeks before you get your time off. Then make sure you do not answer your phone your second day off they want you back on the road. You will see. As a former driver and recruiter I did tell my potential drivers the truth and gave them all a heads up about the way PTL really operates.

I could not get home unless I bobtailed home for an important court date. Bottom line, they hire about 60 new people a week, treat you like a bunch of cattle, and tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to say yes. Unless you want to live in the truck and get home every month or so for a day maybe, don't work for this company. After I was out for 15 days I was told that for every 5 days out, 1 day off. I signed up for a 3 day off time and got a bunch of BS about it. Hey, is was their policy to begin with. Same with the 6 day out policy. They can't even be straight with their own policies. Good point, they paid what they said they would pay and I got my feet wet and am now with another, smaller, company, that hopefully will do what they say they will do. All I ask for is some honesty, just a bit, about what they will do. We'll see.
    Thanks driver

Nothing has changed with PTL! On the phone I was told I would get .38 cents # mile and then when I got there they said NOBODY gets .38@mile...gave me.36 cents BUT EVERYTHING west of the Mississippi (76% of their freight) still only pays .30cents@ mile!I sat there 8 days waiting for a truck. They told me orientation was 2 days and I would be rolling! They still do not know how to tell the truth or talk to people.m This has got to be right down in the pits next to that Hoosier tradewinds!!! I rented a car and came home and I suggest to everybody out there to avoid this company. It is nothing but con artist and liars!

    2nd post about PTL

I posted some pretty strong statements about PTL in the other thread about them (didn't realize the main thread was here), but as I went back and reread it I realized I didn't tell the half of what that place will do to you. It was a good company once, but no more.

Here is the link: PTL: a change for the worse

Ok here is this guys orig post that a couple have commented on. Now 4 months later....

Well, 4 months and 40k miles under my belt, and I have a VERY different opinion of PTL. I'm lucky to get 1900 miles a week. My avg wait time at customers is 3 hrs. I was told 85% drop and hook, I've seen 10%. My dispatcher doesn't communicate with us. He won't give me miles, but gripes when I have a high idle rate. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Murray to pick up drivers log books, and they were out. Said they had been out for over a week.
Been talking to several drivers and I'm hearing the same complaints. I'm looking at other carriers.
So no need to call him a company insider or recruiter or the owners nephew etc...

At least he came back 4 mo later , when many say how great a trucking outfit is while they are in orientation or the hotel, and are never heard from again to let us know how it turned out months later.
