For a brief second I started filling out an application for JB Hunt. Their ads are just so shiny and welcoming. Someone help pull me away from the light!
I just read some threads about them on here and wow I haven't seen one good one. Even the ones that say something positive about them have a "but" included.

Here's a novel idea: How about you think for yourself and make a decision based on what's best for you and ignore the bashers who have little or no personal experience with JBH and only base their opinions on hearsay.
For what it's worth my advise is this: If you are a constant whiner and think everyone else is to blame for your problems JB is not for you. If you are unable to manage your time or can't fill out a log book correctly JB is not for you. If you are a reckless driver who can't obey basic safety protocol you're probably a better fit at Werner or Swift.
However if you like driving equipment that is well maintained, earn a higher than average driver's pay and realize that crap does hit the fan from time to time and have the tools and maturity to accept the world ain't perfect then maybe you ought to consider a JBH driving position.
I'm not a recruiter, just another driving stiff who was reluctant to come aboard because of all the rhetoric I had heard. 2.5 years later I have a more accurate perspective and am trying to show a side to JB that isn't usually revealed due to fear of all the haters. Just trying to help. Good luck.High Desert Dweller, Big John, He's Spartacus and 8 others Thank this. -
80 to 90% of the unfavorable comments made on here about the MEGA CARRIERS are by people that never worked for them.
They have a friend or relative that knows someone who heard something on the CB and base their comments on that.nckid, Big John and tech10171968 Thank this. -
Then they will say that they unfortunately had to leave for medical, or family reasons.
This forum is so predictable.Gearjammin' Penguin and SierraSemiDriver Thank this. -

I was once employed at JB. You can research my previous posts. My experience in a nutshell was a driver is a piece of equipment to them, use it, unload it when its not effective/profitable. When I was there the equipment was PM'd at 30,000 miles + and any defect that would cause the truck to fail DOT specs was patched up at best ... if defect involved driver comfort, nothing would be addressed. If you were on an account where trucks were slip seated, they were all DISGUSTING inside. Same with picking up any extra board trucks.
Because most of the institutionalized "Old timer" JB employees drink the coolaid and know nothing of what life is like on the outside, they think their job is great. If its your only choice for you area go for it. Especially if you like being underpaid, treated as a number, demoralized by threats of termination at EVERY meeting, and driving their crap equipment.
There are many other choices out there other than JB, or the likes of such nasty mega carriers if you have experience.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
