| I would! I dont know much about TransAm or Transport America, but I know about the others and they are nothing but driver mills. You definitely do not want to go to USX as a newbie-they run 100% automatics, and I guarantee that when you leave there and go elsewhere you WILL have to be retrained on a manual. Werner, Covenant, Swift and USX are all driver-mills that just want to get you in a truck, pay you poorly, treat you badly and hope that when you quit you tell all your freinds about how great they are. If Maverick is offering you something I would probally give it a look-see and TMC also. Those 2 have excellent raining programs and will teach you to do it right. The others will teach you to do it their way, which BTW, is not always the right or correct way . Also both Maverick and TMC have great looking trucks and upkeep them fairly well unlike those dirty pieces of junk that Swift and Covenant(especially)have! That right there is a BIG plus to me with any company no matter who they are. |

| Maverick is the best Notarps, Are you discrediting the people, including myself, that are describing their experience with Maverick? When I speak of Maverick, I speak of the specialized side. Which sucks. The US division is "better". Its more than 1 or two people complaining. I dont think that the specialized side should even come close to being lumped in with the US division though. But...I had several classmates that went to the US division, and these guys weren't idiots. They all stayed less than a year. Now that can be attributed to many things of course. And the point system that maverick uses is a pain for new drivers (3yrs or less) because there is a long learning curve, especially on what "incidents" not to report. A new driver doesnt need his new livihood threatend by insignificant bullshi%t. Maverick would do well to practice what they preach. There are Fm's there that sure as hell should not be there. And their saftey department is a joke. PERIOD. I recently got a letter from them asking me to come back, NO THANKS. PS, Your lying about you pay |

| I am not lying about my pay. I don't give a flip whether you believe me or not. Funny I talk to drivers all the time. Glass and US. Mostly the ones complaining are on here and has been fired.

I can assure you that they will take an unkowing/ignorant rookie and let him run to hell and back for a buck without saying a word as long as he has no real accidents or tickets. That if he gets 'points' and they want to keep him, they'll deadhead him in just to kick the points off...as often as it takes. That the point system is only for their advantage, along with the rule about 'no incidents.' And that that same company will then cut whoever falls into whatever category without looking into each case individually when it suites. (As proven by the new fleet manager telling me how I had 'all these late deliveries' while looking at my paperwork....I never deliver late...ask my long term fleet manager....when i asked her what late deliveries? She had to look...I stopped her and said it doesnt matter). And by the economy and a whole cut...and you have to admit that was an unsuall big driver cut all at once (I heard about on the road..a week before). They keep who they want and cut who they want and thats what that system is for....you are confused about how many points you can get and lose. I can assure you you can get and get taken off a pretty large amount.......there's way more then one class.....they just don't advertise that...for varing issues, such as logs, backing, ect. Each worth a two point removal. It is simply a system to use at their will dependent on each drivers ability to make the company money and the true severity of his infractions. (Which, come on, can you blame them?....It should have to be that way to survive as a company). And to any rookie reading this, notarps is correct and I don't want to confuse someone. The point system is inside company and nowhere else....your 'preventable ...anything' goes on your DAC. If safety calls and says you got log violation points..not on your DAC. If they call and say your scraped bumper was 'preventable' you now have THANKS TO THEIR COMPANY POLICY an ACCIDENT (instead of incident...the primary work here is 'preventable'= your fault) on your DAC. Trust me cause I just went thru this and the only place I could get a job was thru a smaller company hauling over size (which I actually was reall excited about...but thru a change of family finances had to turn down and may be able to stay home...if I can find a local job worth having in this economy).

| C'mon guys/gals. The economy is terrible BUT there are still a darn good number of truckers that are making decent money. Maybe it's because their company can count on them and trust them with freight, which we all should know is a HUGE factor, especially since the NEED for freight is so astronomical. It's like this, we have 2 drivers: Driver A: Has been late at least 2X in 120 days, demands to be home every 14 days and then stays home until the VERY LAST MINUTE so customer service AND his FM, DM, Dispatcher are holding their breath praying that OTD is made. This driver complains about a 250 mile run that delivers the next day and states "I'm not moving unless it's 400+", and has a "What's in it for me?" attitude KNOWING that freight is at an all time low. Driver B: Has NEVER been late, doesn't really cause a fuss when they're 1-2 days "late" on their hometime, leaves the house in a timely, fashionable manner, is usually happy-go-lucky but is a little cantankerous at times when he continuously sees 250-300 MPD runs. This driver actually TALKS to his/her dispatcher, understands that the freight base is softer than 5 goose down featherbeds stacked on top of each other and takes 99% of every load they're given because SOME freight is better than NO freight. This driver ALSO doesn't complain when they're asked for help because hey, maybe they'll remember him when a better load comes around. The funny thing is that both driver A & B end up at the same truck stop on the same day. Driver B's Qualcomm goes off...that wonderful "beep" that signals "Hey, maybe I've got a preplan...oh PUHLEEZ make it a good one!". HOLY MOTHER OF...it's a 900 mile load...with 150 miles of deadhead!!! WOW, it's ALSO a 2 DAY RUN...even better, it's Drop/Hook on the final!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. So this very happy driver accepts his preplan, starts his logbook and is heading down the road while Driver A is sitting, turning down all the freight he can because:"Hey, what's in it for me?". THIS is the EXACT thing that happens in dispatch/customer service...EVERY SINGLE DAY. The question is...who would YOU pick to run a load...even a short one, when freight is this soft and the customer is more important than ever? Let me tell you, it's not "first in, first out", it's "Who can we count on" and "Hey, you remember that this guy/gal helped us out". Maybe my question is, which driver are you? ![]() "the intent of this message is not to offend anyone but to educate and if I've offended anyone in anyway...re-read the passage" |
