Tbird, I am considering Maverick as a company to start with. Would you consider them worse than the other companies you have worked for...or would you say they are pretty typical of the industry and just have a better than deserved reputation?

Also, did they push you to drive past your legal and safe abilities to meet your quota?

Thanks for the info!

HI Tbird,
I talked to Mav and was told they have a back log and it would be 4 weeks before I could get in. Since that time my school told me they have a hold on taking people from SC on the trans. side and looks like they were looking at putting people on in spec. I was also told if I did go with them make sure they understand I did not want to go to spec. But to make along story short I would like to thank you and the others for the heads up on this company so I will be going with a different company on the 19th. Hope you and your brother drivers best of luck and ya'll becareful out there.

MavIraq WORST OF THE WORST!!

Please don't be misled by their false promises.. the reason there is such a long waiting list to get in with them is because they have so many drivers quitting, and they have a back log of new students(SCREWEES) that the rate of drivers quiting are greater than the trainers can turn them out.New people falling for this same old song and dance tactics, but SOON learn that they got the shaft!!! Over 50% of Specialized fleet sitting still driverless.. THEY WILL NAIL YOU TO THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MavIraq unsafe equipment!!!!!

Forced numerous times to exceed hours of service to cover screwups in dispatch. Forced (under threats of firing me) to pull overweight and/or unsafe equipment. Documented evidence, of dispatch with trailer broken main framerails (4major breaks)pulled loaded trailer to Miss., unloaded, then dispatch to load this same trlr reported unsafe trlr to stl instructed me to load it or ELSE!!! Told him to take a hike!! Took the responsibility to deadhead to Little Rock to shop...Upon arrival at L.R. term. contacted shop forman, he insected, after he was able to stand a few minutes later from almost fainting in disbelief, he contacted management, which gathered all high level people in safety. Not only could they not be able to make repairs in our shop, the trailer was so bad that they had to haul it to a trailer manufacutring facility to have axle repaced under trailer frame welded in 4 places.. Also for me several days unpaid layover waiting on this junk to be rebuilt, because specialized can't pull good equipment out of L.R. terminal.. To sum it up this is just one occurance of VERY MANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The school did tell me the wait did have to do with getting a trainer. I only live less than 125 miles from the NC location so that must be why they told me to be sure to tell them I did not want go there. I was ready to flip a coin between them and another company. I just put that coin in my pocket. Thanks once again

Inside Scoop to Bad Trucking Company?

I'm glad to see post is finally getting response. So, just how did the post get moved from "the Inside Scoop" to "report a bad trucking company"?

Tbird - we have to compare notes on faulty trailers. Chances are I have red-tagged trailers that have later been sent out with you and vice-versa. I think it possible the red-tags are ending up in the circular file. Never mind driver safety!!!!!

How do I join the 75 banded drivers?

hello everyone

sorry it took so long for me to get back with u guys as u all understand how trucking goes...i dont have a computer at my disposal 24/7. as far as being part of our anded drivers consider yourself in just please try and spread the word to new guys about maverick transportation. i still get e-mails from folks disputing what i say about the entire company maverick. yes that means transportation as well as specialized. for those of u that bleed maroon and think maverick is just the greatest thing since sliced bread, all i can say is best of luck. all i am trying to do is save u mentally and financially so if it takes getting bent over by these thieves then be my guest and feel free to go ahead with it. after all it is a free country. oh but just food for thought,,,,,,,our and of drivers that are trying to help get the word out about this worthless company is now up to 152... oh and for those of u that still like maverick just so u know this all isn't just ex-drivers..... 89 of these drivers are still employed with maverick. the only reason they haven't left yet is the fact they r trying to recoup some of their money.. its amazing how much diesel fuel u can sell at a truckstop for 98 cents a gallon!!!!! lol congrats maverick!!! my list is getting bigger than yours! lolololololol

Mr. Tbird318, if you desire to offer a report in regard to your own experiences with Maverick, that is fine. You have done so.

As to your efforts to assert anything about what any number of people may have to offer about the company, it stops here and now. If those 152 people desire to "spread the word", then they can register a name and offer their own reports on the company.

Whatever the reason as to why you have the desire to "spread the word", third party claims are not allowed in these forums. Your claims are not on par with the reputation of the company.

Maverick is hardly a perfect company, but they don't generate the kind of complaints to warrant an outrageous claim from one man to be in contact with all the people you claim to be in contact with, who are out there "spreading the word" on them.

I urge anyone reading this and other posts related to it, to widen your search for commentary on the company, and to always consider all reports on a company to be nothing short of opinion, and to always consider what motivation may be behind them. Use it as a guide to consider them credible or incredible. See if there is a pattern or if they are isolated in nature.

You know Turbo ever since this guy started posting about Maverick I couldn't help but thinking disgruntled employee. Either former or current it really doesn't matter.

I agree with you that the things he is saying about them run counter to every thing I've ever heard from any of their drivers. We are starting to hear that the new division is having problems, but this guy seems intent on tearing them down no matter what.

He apparently left them a week ago. Whatever happened has left him raw. I can understand that, but it's not a reason to go online and completely trash the company.

I'm probably like alot of people, in that I tend to find reports that cite both the good and bad in a company more on-target and credible.

I see it that way as well. When a man claims to have found and been in contact with 152 drivers in such a short period of time that are equally fed up with the company, it tends to place doubt on all that he offers.

It's too incredible a claim. I sit here and could be in contact with 50 times that amount of people within 24 hours, and I doubt that I could find a single issue where I could boast that 152 of us are in agreement on.

The specialized division does apparently have some issues that are in need of addressing, because there are some similar charges being offered, but those trucks have Maverick on the side of them, and I find it strange that the company would be completely unaware of these problems, or doing nothing about them.

From what I understand, glass hauling is not fun. It comes with it's share of headaches, just like all other facets of trucking. Each has it's own unique good and bad points. Waiting times is one that apparently plague glass haulers. There are only a handful of producers of plate glass, and they supply the entire country.

When Schneider owned what Maverick now owns, they had problems keeping people on those hauls. I knew this to be true, because Schneider posts their jobs listings on their web site, and there were openings practically everywhere they had operations set up, and of course, newbies were hired straight into that division as well. I suspect it was one of the reasons Schneider sold it.

Maverick is going through growing pains at the moment. They have acquired two companies in the past year, and split the transportation division into three separate units. With those kind of changes comes problems.

When drivers in general encounter difficulties, they need to exhaust every avenue of resolving those difficulties before they quit. And a good piece of advice, would be to offer that when you attempt to resolve a difficulty, do it at a time when you are composed and able to speak calmly and without resort to losing your temper or using foul language. Otherwise, who would care to help someone that presents themselves in such a manner?

Given time, and with INTERNAL complaints being made known to Maverick's top management, I'm sure they will do what they can to address the problems that are plaguing them currently in the other divisions that are trusted in management by others.

That's pretty much the reputation of Maverick.
