Dont just take this guys advice man, get more advice. He sure is trying pretty hard to sway people from Maverick! Think about it! Ive read other post whare drives said they loved the Co, this guy is saying the total opasit. So....who do you belive? I also think that they have requiters on hear from other companies to sway people away from a certin rival Co, just a guess, but! I would not be surprised. I am weighting on Maverick as of now. Ive dont weeks of reserch and chatting. I realy hope Im doing the right thing, just be careful what you believe and talk with current drivers. You can ask the recruiter for phone numbers of drivers or number so you can tal to them. I was given one.

I am a driver for Maverick and I will be reporting my experience pretty soon. I have been solo for aprox. 2 months for their specialized glass division. Maverick is a good place to work, as in all companies, you just have to keep a breast of whats going on. Keep your self in check and do what the DOT requires and Maverick has no complaints. If you run illegal, it will catch up to you. The people at Maverick are a lot of ex-schnider folk making a new name for themselves under new management. They have improved the company a lot in my opinion from what I have seen and experienced.
The reason there is a longer wait for their flatbed division is they are only training so many candidates at a time. If you want a challenge come to the Specialized, they do what they promised.

I have not experienced any thing in my opinion that you can't deal with, you have to have a back bone to stand up for what you know is the right thing and Maverick respects that. You also have to not be a whimp or constant complainer either. Give your STL,FM proper dues, and he will hopefully give you the same. Your a driver for a company, your there to make them money and their there to pay you for it. Thats the bottom line.

Maverick issues

Hear is a convo I had with a Maverick recriuter reguarding the issues(stinger10 in this fourm. I hope mit helps. Get you're own info from the company people.

Maverick Guest hello..Chris?

Maverick Recruiti... hi
Maverick Recruiti... is this Michael
Maverick Guest hi
Maverick Guest ok ..hello
Maverick Guest I jaut have a few more qwestions
Maverick Guest and I heard mostly good stuff, but! therE ARE SOME PEOPLE SAYING THAT THEY HAD A BAD EXPEARENCE, THEY HAD TO PAY GAS MONY FROM THERE OWN POCKET AND WERE NEVER PAYED BACKED UP MIALGE PAY. i DONT REAly know how true it is, I was just concerned. I also heard..
Maverick Recruiti... ok
Maverick Guest sorry for the caps
Maverick Recruiti... well depending on when that was it could be true.... when we first bought this division off Schnieder it was in a bad state... we have been working on building it up.... at that time we did not have a fuel network set up in Canada so we were having to send out Com Checks and the like
Maverick Recruiti... hat has been corrected now... however the fuel network is still relatively small up there so you really have to pay closer attention to where to fuel at b/c the stops aren't everywhere like down here in the US
Maverick Guest yeah! He had said he paid for gas in qubeck
Maverick Recruiti... lol thats what it was...
Maverick Recruiti... did you ask him when that was tho?
Maverick Guest he told us
Maverick Guest what syation? NO
Maverick Recruiti... ?
Maverick Guest hE JUST SAIDstation
Maverick Guest typs...sorry
Maverick Guest "station"
Maverick Guest he just said Qubeck
Maverick Recruiti... ahhh
Maverick Recruiti... yeah that was more than likely back in the day then
Maverick Recruiti... not that many loads go to Canda however and we do have that network in place now
Maverick Guest another thing I was told that the spacialized div actiualy brings home less then the flatbead div because specialized div has more sitting time
Maverick Guest true?
Maverick Recruiti... NOPE
Maverick Recruiti... not true
Maverick Recruiti... they bring home more
Maverick Recruiti... and you start out at more
Maverick Guest I will post this in the fourm if its ok with you. There were alot of worried people that wished to come there.
Maverick Recruiti... some people just hate the division b/c it goes to Canda to be honest
Maverick Guest ok
Maverick Recruiti... thats fine
Maverick Guest ahh well ok bro, thanks for yer time
Maverick Guest have a great day
Maverick Recruiti... we've picked up some new glass accounts and one of our competitors lost a large one... so we are gearing up for an overflow of freight around Christmas actually
Maverick Guest made me feel better lol
Maverick Recruiti... not a problem! Have a good one!
Maverick Recruiti... haha glad to hear it!
Maverick Guest lat

......complete transcript (see above)......
Thank you. I've talked to a couple of maverick drivers who do the glass and they say it is lucrative. The specialized div waiting list is longer because of several reasons: 1) Where in the US you are located. 2) the limitation of trainers. If you need to, get in under their flatbed division, and then switch over later. You are supposed to work 6 months in any division before you switch, but just work with the fleet mgr and you can get switched over a lot sooner. Or added to the waiting list.

I figured the reason for the previous trashing was because of the initial transition between Schneider and maverick. If the o/o deal wasn't bad, I wouldn't mind doing their glass division as an o/o. As a company driver first, but afterwards as an o/o.

Have been with Maverick Specialised for about 2 years. I am NOT a driver for Maverick, (I gave up driving OTR to be home). I am a securement team member at a glass plant in Geneva, N.Y. So I cannot say through personal experience how the company is to drive for. However, all of the drivers that were here when I started are still here with two exceptions-one left for a day cab job closer to his home, and the other was releived after having several accidents in a very short time (most carriers would have said adios after the first or second). Most are home every weekend and they seem to be satisified with the company. Granted it's not perfect (is there a company that is?) but again, there haven't been any major complaints that I have heard. None that would warrant trashing the company as bad as certain individuals have done here. Have even considered checking into driving for them for the extra $ I could make, and I'm not real fond of driving. Again, I do not drive or recruit for Maverick and have I nothing to gain or lose from these observations. Just passing along whatI have learned from talking to the drivers.

Regarding the trailer concerns-Maverick has invested in several new trailers with more as we're told on the way. There have been at least 13 new trailers at our facility in the past year, all are roll tarp trailers and most recently 3 new specialised glass trailers. We rarely see the old converter/transformer trailers.
Also the pumpkin trucks are being replaced gradually as well.

My son made this mistake, and now is trapped for six months of pure ####!!!!! All he runs is Canada (winter) has to buy fuel in Can. with his own money. Unsafe equipment, Pays for tolls They operate there equipment on your money . Home time is as rare as hens teeth. Waits as long as 3 days for loads that take him further from home. When he does get paid its usually short 3-500.00 Then he has to argue with them about the shortage. Another 2-3 weeks go by before that payment is made. By that time it's started all over again!!!!
1st..If your afraid of a little work go somewhere else..If your a ##### go somewhere else don't work for Maverick, 2nd Maverick bought out/took over, how ever you want to look at it, Pumkin's glass divisio. Schnieder is notorious for not maintaining equipment, what did you expect?

I have drove for Specialized for a year now and have watch Maverick deal with, repair and install new glass trailers. They also have had to deal with disgruntled Pumkin drivers. Many quit, many stayed! Maverick is good about maintanece, although some of their workers are rookies too. you have to start somewhere.

Maverick has Fleetnet who will get to you asap when you break down, depending on area and resources. This is an imperfect world Duh? It's not all Peaches and Cream! I have been as pissed off as the rest and could have easily quit by now. Bottom line most days are good, you will have some of those notorious Monday syndromes! Those are the ones that divide the men from the boys.

Now, here's important information, your attitude, ability to communicate under stress, patience aquired through life's trials, and faith in God all play a part in your sucess. The first STL/FM you have is not going to be your permanent one. He is there to help, but not babysit, He will test you, don't get stressed. He will lie tpo you if he has to, that's his flaw, he's accountable to God for that!

Once you make it through that experience, learn from it, develope as good of a working relationship with your new FM/STL as you can! Be courteous at the same time be firm in your convictions. If you let them push you around, get used to it! If you keep a good reputation with on time deliveries, low or no accidents or breakage, and do your best for mpg, you can pretty much call the shots whe needed, when backed into a corner.

Canada runs, in the first 6 months they will try you, I refused to go bvecause of the financial burden after about 2 or 3 months. They stopped sending me, however, I told them if they got me the bridge cards, comdata, and INS transponder I would then go. Eventually they did.

If you get sent at first on a long run and predict you will need fuel after getting into Canada, just tell them that if you run out, you will sit there and so will their equipment cause your not going to pay out of yuour pocket, They will give the run to somewho can do it. Any further questions just ask in this thread, I am subscribed to it and get every comment that comes here via email.
