He apparently left them a week ago. Whatever happened has left him raw. I can understand that, but it's not a reason to go online and completely trash the company.

Why Not? If a company sucks then why candy coat it so it will be more palatable? If a company tries to kill you by having you run unsafe equipment or shorts you on pay, what do I care if they have company picnics or send you a Christmas card?

I'm probably like alot of people, in that I tend to find reports that cite both the good and bad in a company more on-target and credible.

Good for you, but the forum tag is not report the bad company with a little good mixed in so it will be believable to you. It is to report on a bad company, which to me means, report on how a company is bad.

Your bubble got busted on another OTR outfit and you can't except a posters opinion and choose to disparage them instead?

The poster used the correct forum for their post and if they wanted to say positive things about Mav, then I am sure they would of posted in that forum.

Now I think some in the corner standing is in order till you can learn to play nice.

For one they are very hard to get on with. They are a top notch co with top notch equipment. They are not like the avg co that will take anyone. They weed out the ones they don't want. They will phase out the ones that do not live up to their standards. I have known several that got cut. Funny how they are a great co till you get let go then all of a sudden they are crap. Most of the ones on here complaining is the ones that could not maintain to their standards and was let go. I have heard all kinds of excuses, but I know they are letting people go for points and low fuel mileage. If they were phasing out the higher paid ones with trainees why did they just rehire me? Bottom line is if you mess up they will work with you to a point. If you hit 6 points you can be let go. If you can't maintain their goal with the fuel mileage you will be let go.
With fuel as high as it is 1500 trucks can belly up a co if you got drivers getting 5 mpg.

Ah see I was going by the High turnover, the fact they have a school, this system of points which makes for a standardized removal process which let's be honest tends to eliminate any objectivity in decisions. All of these are, to me, the familiar symptoms of the driver mill. Again no shame in it, it is a valid business model which works otherwise the Swifts and Schneider's and roehls etc would have long been out of business. FYI I looked at their hiring qualifications and they aren't much different than any of the other mills.

This is a good thing - I just sent in an app

How about it, NoTarps? Got an in with HR so I can have a job by this time next week?

(IIRC, their hiring map does not include Colorado, so the app is more of a wish than an expectation. You never know when the Job Fairy may smite you in the head with his unsecured load)

Did you already go thru the their orientation? Just wondering because this post sounds like the start to every OTR employee manual I have ever read. I bet even Swift manual says they are hard to get into and we only take the best yada, yada.

I wish you success at your new employer. But I think it is naive to think that Maverick is as discerning as you state or that if a driver leaves the company they did so at know fault of the employer.

If you read your post it shows the same trend that most posts here show.
Those that no longer work for a company tend to be more pessimistic and those that get hired by a company tend to be more optimistic in their explanation of how a company is. The problem with the latter posts is that they tend to be students or new hires or ones who feel fortunate to be rehired. Usually the love affair with said motor carrier wears off after a few months and we never hear from that driver again, and how great company x was. Maybe you will be the exception?

The problem I see is when people instead of going to the good trucking company forum and saying how good Maverick is. They come here and say how wrong everyones opinions are and how dare they disparage such a fine company THAT JUST HIRED ME.

This is the BAD company forum not the GOOD company forum. Do you understand the different purposes?

I del to ft carson, then I pic at pueblo. We go there, but I am not sure if they would hire you as they hire where they can get their drivers in on weekends. If they did you would end up being in the long haul div and would be out a few weeks. You can use me if you want for a reference.

Those are my words not theirs. Yes; I already went thru orientation with them. I am not a new driver or new with them. I know what I am talking about. You comparing this to swift.... I needed a good laugh... Thanks...

I think your the one that is a little confused. You think I am a rookie who just hired on. Do your homework before you try to make me look like a newbie!

Thanks - though I was trying to be tongue in cheek. As I said, they don't show any indication of hiring in the Denver area - the app was just a wish.

As for being out weeks... to me, that's a part of OTR anyway. Home every day, or even every weekend is... wrong
