There seems to be a big difference between Maverick Transportation, and the Maverick Specialized Division. When I signed on with Maverick Specialized, I assumed that Maverick Transportation's reputation would carry-over into Maverick Specialized, but I am now thinking of changing companies.

Before I do, I would like to hear from both experienced Maverick Transportation and Maverick Specialized drivers about their experiences. Here are a few of my own:
    • Short pay - and weeks to straighten out
    • Long waiting at shippers/consignees that result in fewer actual miles (and time) to drive - have waited as long as 18 hours at a consignee
    • Ver.r.r.r.y long wait in Laurinburg on Mondays and Fridays. Friday wait typically puts me home for the weekend sometime early Saturday morning - then off again Sunday with no time to spare on 34.
    • Unsupportive (or uninformed) STLs
    • Unreasonable delivery dates/times
    • Encouraged (and actually instructed several times) to exceed 11/14 and 70 to make scheduled delivery
    • Refusal to exceed 11/14 or 70 is treated as a load refusal, which is frowned on
    • Unable to purchase fuel in Canada (particularly Quebec province)
      • First time in Ontario, STL kept refusing request for comdata check, and insisted I had enough fuel to make it out of Canada - You guessed it - I ran out of fuel. The Canadians who had to rescue me had a great laugh.
      • The second trip, I insisted on comdata check before going into Quebec. This time had approval, but couldn't find a place in Quebec that would take comdata. Had to use own credit card. STL could give me no locations in Quebec that would take them, neither could Little Rock
    • Requests for vehicle maintenance are ignored. Have had one request in for over 2 months. Every time I check, I am told they are waiting on the parts. There are over 30 trucks in the yard - surely one of them has the part I need.
    • Recent macro instructed drivers to have chains for tires - have you tried to get chains from Laurinburg? I tried before going to Canada with snow predicted, and they looked at me like I was crazy. After macro came out, tried again - still no chains. Even contacted Little Rock, who sent me back to Laurinburg.
Well, at least all of this waiting, gives me time to catch up on email and internet searches. Glad I stumbled across this forum.

I've seen none of those problems with Maverick Transportation...but I've only been here a couple months. I've heard complaints about Specialized and I think it's still ran out of the Schneider Specialized terminal with Schneider's staff...not sure if that's the reaason for the complaints or not.

Young people, Plese listen to seasoned veteran of 35+ years exp. of driving. Maverick is LOWEST OF THE LOW bottomfeeders you will ever stumble on. PLEASE DON't MAKE THE MISTAKE!! of uniting with these crooks, it will be the mistake you'll regret the rest of your life!!! My son made this mistake, and now is trapped for six months of pure ####!!!!! All he runs is Canada (winter) has to buy fuel in Can. with his own money. Unsafe equipment, Pays for tolls They operate there equipment on your money . Home time is as rare as hens teeth. Waits as long as 3 days for loads that take him further from home. When he does get paid its usually short 3-500.00 Then he has to argue with them about the shortage. Another 2-3 weeks go by before that payment is made. By that time it's started all over again!!!!

You must be talking about the former Schneider division because what you describe is NOTHING like every Mav driver I've ever talked to.

Yep, he is. The Pumpkins sold their specialized division (mostly glass, If I remember correctly) to Maverick a few months ago.

Droopy, you make Mav Spec sound like Covenant!:biggrin_25523:

  7. Ok stupid question. I have talked to Maverick Transportaton. If you go with them can they make you go over to Maverick Specialized?

Maverick(MAVIRAQ) Specialized LLC. Laurenburg,N.C. (glass Division) are the ones I'm referring to But they are paid by the Little Rock office. Which Saddam Husain would have been proud of. And yes they can transfer you to that division if they choose. Known of several Maroon trucks and there drivers transfered over.. Drivers lasted about 2 weeks before quiting!!

Maverick had better pull their heads out, because even if the new division is a different part of the company their once good reputation will rapidly be marred.

BrickMan I have to agree........I happened to be one of those that had origionally been called to training and go to work for Maverick transportation in Little Rock. I waited from early-Dec to mid-Feb and then contacted them and was told by my recruiter that they weren't hiring in Texas anymore for the flatbed div. If I still wanted on I would have to go to the specialized dev. for at 6 mos. before I could transfer back in. Well, I said OK and waited until just the other day and called them back again. I was then told that they are no longer hiring out of Texas for the specialized dev. eigther. I figured at least they could have contacted me to give me the info....So, I guess I will roll on to better things...At least for now....I am not trying to knock'em, I just think that they may be loosing grasp of a good thing (Reputation) w/ this specialized end and would apreciate the truth and a phone call now and then.

I just wanted to let you folks out there know what can happen during your 3 mos wait w/ these guys.......Good Luck

As a maverick driver,or should i say ex-maverick driver,as of 03-08-07 I would like to just give everyone of you a real outlook and expectation of this not so perfect "perfect" company. What you can expect from these chumps is lengthy layovers, spending money out of your own pocket to operate their trucks, fighting for your pay, thousands of miles they never intend on paying you for, forced to run illegally to make the impossible happen, making family life a thing of the past, constant battle with your stl just to operate from day to day. People the list goes on and on. Im new to this forum and was shocked at some of the REAL ignorance some guys have typed on here by stating that this is a reputable and great company to work for. The negative statements I've read are by far drastically underexagerated. As I finished up my career with maerick as a specialized driver, I did however drive with their flatbed fleet for a while before making the switch. Unlike many of the other guys that bow down to maverick, I'm not your typical school boy truck driver. I have been in the industry for many years and know what to expect from a company. For anyone who may still be in disbelief of just how bad the company's situation is as a whole (meaning specialized and the transportation side) let me make this known, any of u can feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns u may have at any time. I along with 75 other fellow maverick drivers are making a stand to just try to keep as many new people from making the same financial, physical, and mental mistakes we did with maverick. In our band of brothers it is a mixture of half specialized and half transportation guys. my tractor number was 56004 as i would love to disclose all others im leaving it to them as it isn't my place to violate their privacy. Make no mistake!!!! This company has not, does not, and never will care about the real people who make things happen, their drivers. In my opinion be money ahead and have mcdonalds teach u to wash lettuce. o/o tim"tbird"
