Gentlemen, I simpathize with the problems you have had with Spirit Miller Transportation N.E. I worked for them from 03/08 through 03/09 out of the Streator, Il. office. I talked many times with personel at the St. Joe. office and I can tell you from my own experience that I was treated great. All the office staff at both locations always seemed to go out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. Pay was never longer to get to me than 7 days. Although there were times I thought the pay was short, after more number crunching it always worked out. I would still be working for them if the Teamster pension people would allow me to. The teamsters on the other hand are the ones to watch out for. If you are ever ask about joining, RUN as fast as you can in the other direction. Another company you want to steer clear of is U.S. Foodservice.

well i sure know the spirit miller group.my sweet brother drove for him.he never said no and always was johnny on the spot and he lost his life for them.i want drivers to realize love of family is way more important than any job out there.the insurance you get for family if you die on road is a joke.i pray all the time for the ones still out there making these companys millionaires.truckers go without so much for companys that do not care what you have to do to make there dollar.when you die for them you are just a new name on the list of casualties.check your trucks, check your chase cars, dont risk a minute of driving safe so they can make a dollar.spirit miller is bad.

I know this post is old but some people need to read more. There was another person asking for a lawyer to help him/her.

To those that are still doing this, can you support a family doing this or is it best to wait til retirement?

.... No $ in trucking anymore and getting worse & worse everyday.... As long as they are getting away with it we can all count on it getting worse still...
There was once a time when the frieght was regulated ($ set in stone) .... Now it is just a bad joke all in favor of corporate America.... The question is
" how low can you go" to support your family? :biggrin_25524:

... Sounds like this guy is very sympathetic to the drivers that had problems getting their $ from these people but unfortunately the teamsters threw his butt out the door for unknown reasons hmmmm
.... We wonder why and we probably will never know why more than likely.... Just food for thought

I wasn't talking about trucking. I've been around trucking for my whole life and I'm 21. My dad's in it my papaw done it for awhile my dad's papaw even my uncle. That problem from now and then is the older drivers like my dad don't like the change but for someone new to it not bad. What I was talking about was truck transport. General freight is still there but only if your with a big company or know how to be a sales rep. To
