to all working in the sand hauling industry, or thinking of entering into the sand business. GILA Transport is hiring owner ops. As a former dispatcher for GILA, i was told to send owners on less paying jobs, and to send them I was told to use company drivers on good hauls, and high dollar runs. I was told to only use our owner ops as back ups.

Can you please elaborate? Were you "told" this in a written correspondence or verbally? Who "told" you to engage in this behavior? Was it top management or perhaps a fellow dispatcher that had a click with a few company drivers.

Did all dispatchers obey this directive? If not, what disciplinary action was taken?

Does this company currently engage in this behavior?

Is that an unusual tactic in the hauling business....where you have both O/O and company drivers?

What would be some good companies in that area that would not do that?

Never been a fan of O/O competing with company drivers or vis versa.

O/O should run at a all owner op company.

This is why ALL L/O, L/P or O/O are a bad deal....

That is nothing new to us it has been that way for a long time. One of the reason I haul their freight under my own authority If I do not like the rate then we do not haul it .

not quite! That's why O/O-L/P with their own company drivers or what is called a mixed fleet are bad deals!

it can lead to good loads on the company, hot got to be there on an O/O and L/P or crappy loads on the company drivers going to places O/O and L/P wont go like NYC and the NE or NW in winter.
