I drove for RMT in the oil fields of Colorado . The tires on our trucks were like racing slicks. All of the drivers were blowing tires left and right. I blew 4 tires in 5 months. I wrote up in my inspection reports that my tires were bald and illegal. You can get fined big time if you don't have the legal tread on a big rig.
The other night I went to an oil well and unloaded 50,000 pounds of sand in a bin. It would not all fit. The foreman for the Fracking crew helped me unload, but eventually I had to stop because there were 15 trucks waiting for me to get out of the way. I was holding up the whole crew. The foreman told me to take the remaining 800 pounds of sand back to my company.
This morning I got a call to come into the office. My supervisor fired me. He said that it was because I brought back sand and because I blew another tire. He full well knows that we sometimes bring a few thousand pounds of sand back. Every driver has had to do this from time to time.
He also knows that my tires are like racing slicks. In fact, the other drivers have razzed me about driving such a dangerous truck. Other drivers have blown 4 or 5 tires over the summer.
This guy is a liar and I want to see him get canned. His name is Greg. Don't work for this company. They'll lie to you to keep you around. They'll tell you that it's going to get really busy. Then when they want to get rid of people they pull out a file that shows when you dropped a piece of lint in the office on accident.
"Yeah, see, you dropped lint in the office. We can't have that sort of thing going on here, you're fired."
I've been driving for 12 years and I've never been treated like this. Greg is the biggest liar and thief I've ever known. He has some of our drivers tools. If I had the money I would take him to court and sue him.
Again, that's Rocky Mountain Transload.......or I call it Rocky Mountain Cronies.

    1) if all your tires were under 2/32's....why were you driving? - 2) Were the other trucks waiting to offload sand? if not, why were you parked in the way - if yes, what did they do with their sand? 3) How did you know it was 800lbs and why didn't you jus put it into another bin? - 4) You mean to say that Greg stole the tools you bought? ----- just wondering, ---- anyways...is it true one can make up to $50,000 working for them or any other sand hauling company?

These are the dumbest questions I've ever heard.1. When you drive a truck you drive what you're given. All you can do is bug the mechanics about fixing any problems. If they don't respond there is nothing you can do. You can quit and go somewhere else but you'll run into the same thing. After 13 years of driving I have found out that no matter where you go there is always something. However, one thing that shouldn't be happening is for Greg to chew his drivers out when they blow racing slicks on 100 degree days.
    2. You didn't read the story very well. Read it again and you'll see that I was unloading sand in a bin so the fracking crew could frack. They were waiting out on the main road to get on location but had to wait for me to finish. Again, if you read the story you would see that I would obviously have been the last truck since there was absolutely no room left in the sand bin. The foreman of the fracking crew told me to blow out on top of the bin and that his men would shovel it in as the fracking pumped the sand down the well. If you've ever hauled sand you will know that blowing sand on top of a bin takes longer than blowing it inside the bin. Eventually the foreman got impatient and told me to take the remaining sand back to the yard.
    3. Again, if you have ever hauled sand you will know how much sand you have left by tapping the side of your trailer. You can feel how much is in the trailer by sound and by how solid the tap is. It was 800 pounds give or take 200.
    4. Anyhow, that was two years ago, and I could care less now. And yes, Greg did take one of my tools. He was a thuggish kind of boss. I didn't even ask for it back because he was the kind of guy that liked to yell, rant, and rave....and fire people. That's it in a nutshell.
    5. You should come up with some better questions because these ones don't drive any point home.

The price of crude has dropped in half from where it was last year and some people are thinking it is still going to go lower before it stabilizes again. Do you think anyone would of projected that last November? I would say NOPE.. Being a sand hauler isn't easy. Generally you are on, on call status because you are waiting on a service company to spot bins, send directions, give TMS numbers, etc. Most guys sleep in their trucks several nights a week even though they run local just so they can get a jump on the work and be available when jobs are ready. I looked up RMT on the internet and they have been in business for close to 20 years. Their safe stat scores are exceptionally high and they have won numerous awards which includes one from the Colorado Motor Carriers Assn. If you look up current news they are being nominated for a safe carrier award in the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Awards this coming March. I'd say if you have heart feelings against this Greg guy then you should go hug it out. But definitely don't slam a reputable company just because your employment was cancelled there. Not cool my man!

I've run into some of RMT's trucks on the road in the Denver area, from what I've seen in passing, I'd say the OP wasn't too far off. AS for Colo. Motor Carriers Assoc., that's a joke of a group if ever there was one. When Colo. changed the chain law in 2007, they rolled over and played dead, didn't do squat to help the truckers, they've yet to stand up for us with the state as far as getting the chain up areas finished and safer.
