    Dear Prospective Driver,

Here is an ALERT to stay away from a company based out of Sacramento, California named Hendrickson Trucking Inc. This alert is based on recent profesional experience I had with this company. Bear in mind I would never will place an "ALERT" under false pretenses or to gain some sort of satisfaction in burning a company's reputation unless I worked there first and experienced their treatment good or bad first hand.

    Here are the facts:
Claim: Hendrickson Trucking Inc. is running recruitment ads in every west coast paper up and down the I-5 corridor saying they pay the "highest pay in the industry!"
Fact: They don't it's a "come on" or "hook" in their recruitment ad. Many trucking companies are paying better than .42 cents a mile not .39 p/mile as Hendrickson claims.

Claim: They have the lowest "turn over rate" and the "Best/Newest Equipment of any trucking company in the western U.S.
Fact: Their turn over rate starts right in orientation when the prospective driver see's how they operate and decides right then there to pass on driving for them. Equipment that is worn out, dirty, leaking fluids, tires with bulges, wear bars, broken parts on the trailers. Their Safety Lane is a joke. I found several issues that could have put me in an "out of service" situation had I not repaired it myself!

Claim: There dispatchers are professional "team members and CDL drivers" interested in your "success!!"

Fact: Here again they hire "professional liars!" They couldn't communicate the truth if their sorry butts depended on it! Often rude, non-comitted, evasive and wrong when critical information such as load p/u and delivery times, customer addresses.

Claim: They will help you out if you have a "family emergency" come up and get you home and work with you through this emergency.
Fact: In my case they had me return to the yard with my truck, drop the trailer I had in the yard and report directly to the ops chief in dispatch, which I complied. I was told to clean out my truck of my personal effects, when I inquired as to why? they said that they were exercising their option under the California "At will employment clause". I was not late on any loads often times early! I was told that my wife's pregnancy was a factor in dismissing me! :angry4: By the way my wife delivered a healthy baby girl weighing in at 7lbs. 9ozs. 20 1/2" long and cute well I won't rave right now:cool: she was well worth it to leave this company! They also stranded me in Sacramento and refused to take me to Sacramento airport in their company van so I hired a limo to take me to the airport in style and charged it back to Hendrickson account for the troubles they caused me! The total bill for the limo ride?........ $485.00!

Claim: their recruiters will work any issues out with you regardless of the circumstances.

Fact: I received two phone calls at home from one of their "fine" recruiters saying "You'll never work again in trucking!", Your an xxxx loser! The other phone call made to me was a certifiable "death threat" made by a man named Russel with kind explenatives thrown in for good effect. All this because they lied to me when I arrived at the terminal to drop my load and had me move out of my truck. They also had too many drivers for the amount of trucks they had available leading to cmass confusion, PO'ed drivers getting stranded in the yard with no place to go and threatening drivers with legal action if they left without notice and permission from the management. Nice to know slavery still exists :smt025

Sumation: Please do not go to work for this outfit or should I say something else more discriptive! It suffices the driver to use this latin legal term when deciding to go work for a place like this...... CAVIET EMPTOR! let the driver (buyer) beware!

I can only hope this will help you the prospective/desprate driver make an informed decission. If you need more information please don't hesitate to ask I'd be more than happy to assist you and your questions!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl! I don't blame you for leaving Hendrikson. I was wondering if they were a decent outfit or not. Based on your story, I really have my doubts now. I was looking to them as a prospective employer, but now I am having second thoughts. Like everyone else, I am really trying to find the best job and every little bit of info helps. I have 11 years experience and would not be leaving my current trucking job if they were not closing the factory I am based out of.

If you have any more information to give about Hendrickson I would appreciate it! Let me know If you have found anything better, in the mean time enjoy your time with your new daughter! See ya.

Poor driver (hendrickson) had to sit at the Loves truck stop in RIPON CA last week because he had a hazmat leak coming out of his trailer... It shut down the truck stop for hours, the next day the dot and two fire trucks were still there!!! Someone said ACID leak..?? But I dont know!!! Dont haul Hazmat loads for nothing, even 15 bucks extra, its not worth it!!! I dont know if Hendrickson pays xtra for hazmat or if this driver got paid for being down for 2+ days, but that would suck.... I would hate to get the bill on this incident...

oh wow, where do i start? there are so many flaws with this company. of all my seven years of driving a truck, i have never worked for a company of such disorganization and instability.

their team of dispatchers is a joke to begin with. they would leave me sitting for days without a load after delivering. their team of dispatchers don't know the first thing about dispatching. their head dispatcher (ken) is an arrogant SOB and a total ########.

my employment with them lasted almost 7 months. i wonder how i did it. everytime time they f&*ked me, i would lie to myself say that things would get better. i was employed through them with my own truck (what a mistake that was). they wouldn't deadhead me so they would usually sit me for days until they got some piece of crap load for 130 miles (and usually takes about two days to deliver) just so they could get me closer to their accounts to reload me. i have deadheaded over 700 miles just so i could get home rather than hang out at a truck stop over a three day weekend without pay....and this has happened far too many times. they'll give you a load knowing that they would have a hard time finding an outbound load for you once you empty out. fortunately, my truck is paid for so i don't have to worry about getting my truck repossessed.

this company has a poor performance review and have very little customer accessability so they usually take on brokered loads. they are destined for failer and i wouldn't be surprised if they filed for bankruptsy tomorrow. be weary potential drivers, do not apply at this company and be wasting your time when you could be better off somewhere else. when i left the company two weeks ago, they had all their trucks lined up and parked without any drivers to fill them. they are advertising really hard to get exposed so use your best judgements.

thank you "AVIATOR" for posting this column. i just wished i would've done more homework before i signed on with this company.

Man, am I glad to see this thread! I have a friend who left and went with Gemini after being treated poorly by Hendrickson repeatedly! He resigned after sitting for days waiting for a load, was talked into staying (his poor decision) and the same thing happened several more times! Once he resigned, they sent him from SLC to the Northwest and were going to let him sit another weekend - he ran the truck and empty back to the Sac yard, left it in good shape.

The company's response - tried to take his entire last check - he filed a complaint with the State of California and got all his money!

His issues mirrored all the others:
    - long delays between loads
    - very poor quality dispatchers
    - even worse load planners (one lady in particular)
    - not getting home at committed times
    - dishonest recruiters
    - owner who will not respond to driver complaints - refers them back to the recruiter, etc.
    - equipment issues, etc.

I've driven 10 years four different companies, hendrickson is easily the worst hands down. They don't pay for orientation and the motel is full of crack ######. They don't give you any truck money when you head out. My first 5 days i had 500 miles . I said i'll stick it out. Boy, was that a mistake. The whole staff treats you like ####. The drivers lounge has never been cleaned. The mold on the shower curtains is 1/2 inch thick .The furniture in the lounge a crack ##### wouldn't even take it if they saw it outside a Goodwill donation spot at night. They have no mechanics put steer tires on wrong direction. They suspended me for log violations because they are on probation with the feds and will be shut down very soon. I drove 6 months and the most mile i had was 2000. When they suspended me they sent me a letter they didn't want me back. That's because i got into it with the owner , Wade. he looks like he should be doing gay porn in Hollywood. he has 2 lear jets and doesn't know #### about trucking. When i got tghe letter saying they didn't want me back it was the best day of my life. And of course they screwed me on my last check. Chargede me busfare, truck clean ouit fees and other ########

Thats sad that Hendrickson let ya go.The only time companies like you is when you act like a robot. We the drivers do so many favors forceably by the dispatchers and/or corporate idiots but when we ask a favor heaven forbid they can't help us out.Instead we either get fired, suspended, wrote up.Only reason I drive truck is for travel and you meet alot of interesting and nice folks and no jobs around here I even remotely like.It sure isn't for the money because driving a semi you don't make what you should because dispatchers make you sit or shps and receivers make you sit literally for hrs or if you think you do have a good check coming u found out the company didnt pay you for all miles or something.Congratulations on your little miricle. Bottom line is Henrickson is as cold as many other companies. They let ya go because they wanted to not because your wifes pregnancy was a factor in letting you go.I discovered after the first few times getting screwed ,getting no respect ,ect that they deserve the same respect in return and the madder the dispatchers and corporate idiots get the better I feel.I love making them mad.Gainey was the worse company I left them few months ago because they charged me with their trk repair and didnt pay a final check so I filed a small claim suit for $5000.00,I got the money back but I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT DONE WITH THEM.Every time I see a weigh sta open I stop and inform them of what bad equipment Gainey has. They are stopping every Gainey trk in for inspection.Mr Gainey filed a chapter 11.I sent him a letter and told him to face it Mr.Gainey your ship is sinking.

I have to agree with all the complaint's with Hendrickson I was constantly layed over 3 to 4 days at a time, I was given way too much time to get my loads to their destination almost always a day early, they pay on the shortest miles they can leagally pay you on, they will dispatch 2 or 3 trucks to pick up the same load I'm still trying to figure out how to get 3 trucks under 1 trailer, I had an emergency at home with a broken water pipe spraying from the hot water heater closet through the wall into the laundry room and after 11 days of trying to get home to do a 20 minute repair I was told to pick up a trailer in the yard that delivered the next morning in burns Or. and when I got there I quit!!! telling dispatch I figured out a solution to the problem of me getting home to do the repair to my water pipe and handed them back thier stuff, they said they were going to put another load on me that had more time on it and I told them "you don't understand we are done here" and I walked out the gate and took a bus back home, thank God I had already cleaned out my truck. I wouldent recomend this company to my worst enemy.
