Listen, once I am hired unless stated in orientation that I would pay. When I am a company employee I don't pay for truck payment, tolls, load bars, straps, fuel ,permits, lumper's, chains, Hazmat background check and fees to cross borders or return and to enter ports. Those are paid by the company because I am a company employee, not a contractor. All of these things my company pays for because unlike you they understand the difference between a employee and a contractor.
It has nothing to do with the cost which you still seem to be focused on after your weak comparison of a driver with a TWIC and a Mechanic with tools was soundly and quite eloquently squashed. And furthermore a freaking mechanic gets paid for every hour on the job unlike a OTR driver so it is a pointless comparison in the first place.
Now when you bark and get put back on the porch please come back with a retort only after you have learned to actually comprehend the post you are responding to.
Now if you are so eager to pay out of pocket for the company kibble then knock yourself out. But I do not need to work for company's that pass on a new cost of doing business to their company drivers.Gearjammin' Penguin and Lonesome Thank this. -

I've been thinking about these folks. I would like to hear from their company drivers. I have a good record and want to keep it that way, so I don't want haseled by DOT for their bad record. And in this day of over caution, noone will let us get the miles we use too. As for unload fees some of us have spent the day at a warehouse for free. I am thinking of going tanks non-hazmat, I live in Ga. Anyone know a good company I can check out?

Indian river is better then oakley

They are doing business as Oakley Groves, also as Oakley Transport (Tanker/reefer side) and as a whole...Oakley Companies.
I have read alot of what has been said about this company and what is being said is the truth.
They do make you pay for a matress cover if you want a new matress. Otherwise you get a USED matress that may or may not have bedbugs in it. Know of one truck put out of service and the drivers break room has been locked up on at least 3 different occasions due to bed bugs.
They make you pay a "deposit" on all your fittings of $500. of which will be returned to you when you quit...less any monies you might owe them.
You also have to pay for your employee manual and hazmat reg books if not returned when you quit. Oh yes, and $100 for an employee badge that is just laminated paper.
They also make you pay for twic, passport, and hazmat. Take it out of your check.
Miles are ok but they are getting ready to go electronic logs so that will change as the loads aren't there unless you are willing to work your logs.
I know several drivers or employees that have been hurt for one reason or another, some have lost their jobs others forced to do non-driver positions even after being released to do their job. Just so the company can "force" them to quit.
I won't even get into Driver Appreciation Week. At Oakley they should just call it what it is there....Employee Appreciation Week!!!
When your truck is broke down, then you can wait up to a week or two for it to be fixed with no income coming in.
Expect alot of downtime due to trailers not meeting DOT standards.
They don't tell you before you come to orientation that this is their policy. Most drivers wouldn't be so upset if you knew what you were getting into before you arrived there.
Pay is based on longevity on your previous job. Anything less than a year on your previous job you will start out at .31mile for tanker. Pay is better if you are hauling van/reefer but not by much.
The recruiters will do nothing but blow smoke. Just be careful of this company. It is not a good company to work for. If I would have known everything before I came here I wouldn't have come.beerslave and BorderBandit Thank this.
