:biggrin_25513:Earl L. Henderson Trucking/ Salem, IL. Warning if you value your career stay as far away from henderson trucking as possible. Somehow dispatch manages to assign u loads that are already late. they expect you to deliver on time, then will slap you with a service failure. Add to that that thier lease purchase program is a sham. they claim they will pay for everything then you get a bill where u end up paying the cost. they are owned and operated by an outside firm. So at every oppurtunity they have they throw the driver under the bus to save thier own necks. good luck getting in touch with dispatch over th e phone, & if you do they will give you the riot act over the phone, rudely tell you how they are busy have no time to talk to you hang up then send a message over the qualcomm politely asking you to communicate thru the qualcomm. if you really need something as simple as a lumper fee request. You might as well say goodbye to you're 14 hours. becuase you will here from dayshift but swing or night dispatch. I won't even get started on if you breakdown.

So how long were you with Henderson? Did you lease a new truck? Be more specific.

Hey Intercity I work for Henderson and I can hear and understand your frustrations. I have been here for over 3 years and the policy of wanting drivers to communicate over the phone has been in place throughout my time there. The reason is simple drivers will pick up the phone to talk about just anything . Not saying your calls were not urgent or valid but by sending qualcomm msg you have a record of the msg, time etc. I have been here for over 3 years seen alot of drivers come and go heck thought about quitting a few times myself. No company is perfect or works out for everyone,

Truck companies spend big bucks for Q-Comm communications. Then why do drivers want to call in on the phone ? Dispatchers have plenty to do without drivers wanting to call in and do business when they can do it over the Q-Comm. I worked for Henderson, had a trailer stolen from the house, and never called on the phone, handled it all VIA the Q-Comm.

Crete is the same way, they don't like drivers calling into Lincoln.

Sorry but i can tell stories all day of how long it takes some of these clock watchers to answer a qualcomm msg. Just like with drivers, just because they call you a dm or dpr doesn't mean you should be one.

They have headsets now in 2011. It ain't like you have to stop everything to take a call if your worth a carp as a dp and you can weed out the numpties by looking at who is calling. Thats what my dpr does, I got a good one, he can dp, take calls and answer msgs in a timely manner. Just requires some training and not being a clock watcher.

well as of now you cannot lease from Henderson until you have worked for the company for 6 months. This way you can see how the company operates, traffic lanes, load avgs etc

I just did a 3+ month stint at Henderson, as a team driver with my best friend ( teamed together before). Got LOTS and LOTS to say about them, but last Tuesday, we were so pissed that we quit under a load ( totally not my style).
Pros: they dont micromanage you. They dont "route" you, unless high value load. They didnt squeeze us on home time. ( we always got our home time ON time and a little extra sometimes)
Cons:1) They have no clue what detention is. We spent 10+ hours sitting waiting to get loaded and never saw 1 dime for waiting. This happened all the time on Cali loads (produce mostly) we sat roughly 100 hours in the 3 months and never got paid for any of it. 2) alot of our runs were "finish up" runs that someone else ran out of hours or got sleepy and couldnt finish. 3) didnt get paid for extra stops on some occasions. 4) always sending messages about "you didnt send in your macros" even tho it showed on the sent messages that we did. 5) Their shop is idiots. the 2011 Cascadia had something wrong with the rear end and it shook ALL THE TIME tooo the point you couldnt sleep. 3 times in the shop, and nothing wrong with it. yeah, right. It always pulled hard to the right (that was because of the "crown in the roads", as we were informed) LOL 6) as a team, we barely got 5000 miles most weeks. Was told "you can have all the miles that you can run".... but we never saw it. After awhile, all this crap added up and we just had enough. Plus, ( I KNOW youve never heard this one before, but the DM's LIED all the time!!) Ive seen worse companys, but this is the only one that I didnt give notice too, and bowed out on a good note. Good luck if you give them a try.
