Several weeks ago my husband put in with a local company called Sharp Transit. Sounded good, home every night, fair pay. What's not to like? Bring your friends..... He even referred a friend to come with him.
My husband was offered a position. Took drug test, agility test, and filled out a new hire packet, presumably so that his keys could be allotted to him. Was told he would begin training in a day or so when his keys and cards were ready. My husband then resigned from his previous position so he was ready to start. Silence. For a week. Called in and asked what was going on. Oops sorry we're working on it, just got backed up, will call you tomorrow. Nothing for 4 more days. Called again. A Girl in safety advised that application was declined. WHAT? But it had already been approved, finished, offer of employment given!
Did finally get an email after leaving a message for the man who offered him a position.
I think this is a cold and heartless thing to do to someone. Especially in this economy. Why offer a position and say you are starting. We are now back to a one income family and you all know that isn't going to make the bills.
Anyone know of a good truthful company?
Stay away from Sharp Transit Jefferson, GA

I Been Employed With Sharp Transit For A Year And I Love It.......Don't Know What Happen In That Situation But We Have Been Doing Some Hiring But Not A lot Tell Your Husband To Apply Again!!!!!!!
-
I've been with Sharp for going on a year and have seen drivers come and go for various reasons. Some that have left have even requested to return.
The terminal located in Jefferson, GA is under new management and is running like a well oiled machine. Our drivers are compensated well for the work that they perform, receive weekly and monthly bonuses and they are home daily. Sharp Transit prides itself on taking care of their drivers and making their work environment the best that it can be. I encourage anyone with 2 years previous driving experience to apply at Sharptransit.com. The applications are sent directly to HR and candidates usually hear from us within 5 business days after applying. -
Is your pay rate the same for all terminals or does it vary. My buddy is doing ok out of your Michigan terminal. Does the Florida Terminal pay the same or less. For those that don't know it's load pay not mileage pay. Each different load pays a set amount. 2 or 3 loads per day.
-
I'd have to ask about other terminals to be sure. I don't want to mislead anyone. Ours is a percentage of the load pay and mileage is factored into that. You receive a percentage of additional stop pay also if your load has multiple drops. If you're interested I would definitely recommend reaching out to the terminal manager for Haines City, FL for more concrete information.
If you are out overnight you're compensated for that as well and they do have OTR opportunities for those that don't need to be home daily. Sorry I'm not able to provide more information on our other terminals.RookieJ1987 and xlsdraw Thank this. -
