I would either try to get a different person to team with or go into the flatbed division as you suggest yourself. You don't have that long before your commitment to them is up and I would recommend to finish out your time with the company, to avoid owing money to them.

Secondly, report your co-driver to safety for his drinking. That is not excusable and may put you and others in danger.

 

A month and a half kind of limits you to quitting the industry.

Even if you want to drive local, you have to get the experience in.

I would ask for another trainer before quitting.

It's hard to adapt, but eventially you do. You have to be tough and don't let the little stuff bother you. Many have problems sleeping. But then you'll be tired enough to sleep and do get use to it. That's just a temporary thing anyway until you get on your own. If the dispatcher and company part is working, don't let a trainer convince you to quit. Get another.

Yep, the drinking thing is a problem. It should be brought up to safety. I know, someone will chime in on the regs because he ain't breaking them rules, yet? Bottom line he is an alcoholic if he finds a need to drink alot. There's no room for it while on the road. Save it for your off time or a 34 reset.

Edit: I just reread he quit. So where do you stand now?

 

Definitely get a different teammate, you guys don't mesh well to be living in a small space...

How does that work if he's at a bar drinking, then gets back into a commercial truck, driving or not can't the police bust him for that, and in which case bust you too ??

I don't drink, I'm afraid if I start I'd be an alcoholic ....

 

Find a new co driver. If you have a good dispatcher just call them explain the situation see if they have anyone else on there board that need a co driver in your area. Quitting wont help your family because the company will come after you for the cost of training and if I remember from other posts you signed an 8 month contract with CRST so no one will hire you while under contract with.

 

I remember back in the day I had a co driver that would drink a twelve pack in the bunk when I was driving. I was like I dont give a #### do what you want back there its your time, Just be ready to drive your 10!. Now that Iam thinking about it, I wonder what would have happened if we got pulled over? Mind you I was not a drinker at the time so nothing in my blood.

 

Im really thinking about doing flatbedding solo what do you guys think Better get more experience before you attempt that !
