While I can't agree with all your accusations, Randy Marten definitely is inconsiderate and arrogant. I worked at Marten for 3 1/2 years prior to a work injury and I had to fight for worker's comp benefits. I was eventually forced out of the company, at least from my perspective. In addition, I received one of Randy infamous letters he sends to drivers who upset him. I am actually earning a higher paycheck now since I left Marten and I get my weekends off, though I have the option of working an additional day. I am not forced on per-diem, which is moot point since I am a local driver. And while legal, forced per-diem is clearly a rip-off for the driver and I would recommend steering away from companies that force you on per-deim. Per-deim was originally intended as addition pay to cover the expenses of being away from home for purposes of work, and this money was not taxable. The trucking lobby has found a way to take it out of your paycheck, rather than give you the additional funds. So, sure the starter of this thread may be a disgruntled ex-employee but much of what was said rings true about Marten Transport. I say stay away from Marten Transport and find a company that respects their drivers.

The only way I would accept per-diem, is if top pay is like 45cpm, and they would have to add the 18cpm to my 45cpm ..that's how it is supposed to work..and how it works in other fields..Per-diem and is AN additon to, not a part of your cpm..
