Should be a requirement of 2 years experience before LEASE is even discussed.

I do like that they offer a 6 mo, 1 yr and a 5 year lease option if you don't want to commit long term right off the bat. 75% of their fleet is independent contractors, either O/O or L/O.

I'm dead set on going company out of the gate to get my feet wet and after a while I'll reevaluate and do more research.

I did meet a couple of drivers that went L/O right out of training and did just fine, but they asked the more successful guys how it works and followed it to the T.

TA pays a buck a mile he have to drive 141k to make 141k plus pay $1000.00 a week lease and fuel. He didn't net 141k if his income touch 141k it was gross.

Right now it's $1.20 a mile with the increase in fuel surcharge. Trans Am has been fairly liberal in passing of their pump discounts to me, and my fuel economy and how I decide how much to put in makes my fuel payments and my surcharge about equal or even favoring the surcharge. The fixed total cost with the optionals included is around $909 for me.

You must've missed the part where his wife's income was listed $100,000

this is the same old same old same old same old same old story.

it has gotten old. i used to feel sorry for those who got scammed, but not anymore. with years, nor, decades of information at the fingertips of people, they still line up for this scam, and still wonder why they are getting the shaft.

here's the reason. i will tell you the insiders secret. the reason why you got screwed is because you asked for it. you wanted it. nobody could have talked you out of it, you didn't do your homework and now you screwed yourself and your family.

and you asked for it. you wanted it so bad you signed a contract i bet you never even read the first 2 lines of or took to a lawyer to check in to.

nope. i'm billy bigrigger. where do i sign.

and tomorrow, as the lawyer for the company that screwed you prepares to put a judgement on you that will take decades to pay off, another idiot will happily jump into your seat, and be here crying in about 2 months.

Now I know this was his truck, but seriously??? No one taught him any manners! Telling me not to kill him but not allowing me to sleep...Gee I am surprised my sleep deprivation didnt get us both. But I held on thinking it was all worth it in the end. My trainer kept asking me why I wanted company, telling me I will not make any money as a company driver. Laughing with other l/o on the phone saying yeah I got a comp riding with me. When I finally got back to Kansas terminal to test, the O/O man came in with his fancy suit. Telling everyone who doesnt sign Lease will drive a Purple truck..Who wants a purple truck. Then promising miles, we will take care of you, home time etc. They sold me. I ended up signing the lease.

First week 780 take home, 2nd week 634 take home, 3rd week NEGATIVE, 4th week, NEGATIVE....Ummmm yeah. I can make more home on Stamps and ssi/unemployment then working. I came here for a job and well pay...I did not expect to work for a truck and fees....I have rent, children to feed, power/water..I cant even get health insurance for my children to see a doctor.. Selling sperm pays more right now. I keep requesting loads and they say we are searching. No preplan. etc. etc.. Sent me home 3 days early and gave me a load where I had to sit for 3 days so I had barely 900 miles. Yeah they really are trying my patience.

If I quit before 90 days they say I will owe them 10,000. I dont know what to do. Rent and other bills come like clockwork. If I dont get some miles now, Come May, my wife and kids will be on the streets and I cannot let that happen. And she cannot work because daycare for 4 kids will kill us. Thats all she will work for, daycare for her, truck for me...So whats the point in working being gone when neither one of us brings home bill and food money. My dispatcher never responds and when he does, he is hours late.

And now I am at risk of owing more then 10,000 and never being able to work for a trucking company with a cdl I worked so hard to get....T/A definetly won a scam on me. Now I am in between calling it quits or sticking it in hoping they will give me enough miles the next week...I am not asking for 4000/5000 miles. Just a weekly 2500-3000 would be enough, but all I get is 1000 if not 1400....This is not working at all.
    Dang dude...

Excellent idea in principle...think of all the companies whose L/O programs would suffer so severely that they'd have to shut them down!

Unfortunately, as long as the market is strong for this type of abuse, it will continue to flourish.
