    CRST

I worked for CRST for 10 months as a new driver, was told I will make .32 cpm but only made .22 cpm. Was upset but stayed with them because I needed experience.
I was told to drive beyond hours I was not suppose too and falsify my log books and when I didn’t, they wrote me up. And in return I was fined for doing so. When I said no to work when I needed a 34 hour restart, they told me to drive because I didn’t need a restart, and then wrote me up for doing so.
They deducted my pay for various safety violation reasons and deductions I could not understand, and only twice gave me back my reimbursements. When I needed an advance to survive on the road, My take home pay was less than $120.00 a month. Never was paid for orientation or the hotel I had to pay for when I was in Cedar Rapids because the dorms were full.
Luckily I paid for a trucking school in CA and didn’t have a contract to pay them even though they said they will pay for part of the schooling if I stayed for 6 months, they never did. Unluckily I took the first company that called (it ended up being CRST) because the school said to do so.
In 10 months I worked for CRST and thousands of miles of constant moving and driving. I made less than $7000.00

But anyways how CRST ruined my career is:
I was delivering a load in Florida one Thursday morning in 2010 with No one in front of me for more than two miles, when all of a sudden two cars having road rage with each other, pulled right in front of me and the driver in front slammed on his breaks to have the car in front of me hit him. I wasn't able to stop and slammed into both of them. I was Not at fault at all. Even the police report says so. No way in hell was Anyone going to be able to predict what an Idiot was going to do when he slammed on his breaks and came to a complete stop in 60 mph traffic just 80 feet in front of me.
I was taken off duty and had to get a hotel for over the weekend so that the Safety department can get back to me. Monday morning they told me and my co-driver to rent a car and drive to Oklahoma City Terminal. For what ever reason, I was not to drive the car. it took two days to get there. Got there, once in OK city CRST. the safety Dept and I went over and had to re-do some log book pages and sit there and try to remember a few days of some missing logs. Pretty much falsified everything right there on those logs. That took 3 and a half days to do that. When we were done filling out all the correct paperwork, They FIRED ME for the accident. CRST Policies are ANY accidents, You will be terminated. And had me escorted off the CRST Oklahoma City Terminal property.
I had to get a Greyhound Bus back to California. (surprisingly, they paid for the ticket) but I had to pay for ALL my stuff I had in the truck with me to be shipped home.
Co-driver got another driver and stayed for a few months more until his contract was up and then left and now works for Werner.

H.R. and the Safety Dept of CRST reported it as my fault and as a Safety Violation on My DAC Report. once on a DAC report, ALWAYS on a DAC report. you can not have it changed.
So Now I can not get a good job with any large trucking companies.
Hence, My Career is Ruined by CRST.

You don't have to work for a large company try these smaller companies they may not even know what a DAC is.

You say you can't get a good job, but let's face it, you didn't have a good job. Use that as your experience with large companies and move forward.
Was wondering though, if you were team with CRST, how are you running out of hours? Seems like two drivers, lots of hours? Look there are a lot of companies that don't want to hear "out of hours" from a team truck.
But, all in all IMO, its not a good company, and they probably did you a favor.

Also, don't give up because of DAC. About a year ago when I was job searching, I had a couple of smaller companies say they don't care about DAC. Too much false info they said. PSP was more important.

sorry that happen to you but next time think is better get fired for not falsify log than keep working for a company that will turn on you in a second and falsify on your Dac .

Good luck hope you find something way better.

Any time you rear end somebody, you are likely going to be fired. Any job application you fill out in the next 3-5 years, you're going to have to report that wreck. If you don't, you're lying on the application....and companies tend to like that less than they do drivers who rear end other vehicles. The wreck will show up on your MVR, so whether or not the company subscribes to HireRight (DAC) is irrelevant...you aren't going to be able to hide it.

CRST didn't screw you. You screwed yourself. If they want you to run illegally, you say "no". If they penalize you in any way for refusing to run illegally, file a complaint with the FMCSA.

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/about/outreach/consumers/safthotline.htm

Once you CHOOSE to run over hours, falsify your logs, operate unsafe equipment, or in any other way violate the rules & regulations, you are JUST as guilty as they are.

Now there are a few things that I don't quite understand....in one sentence, you claim "My take home pay was less than $120.00 a month"...but then a few sentences later, you write that "In 10 months I worked for CRST and thousands of miles of constant moving and driving. I made less than $7000.00". $120/month * 10 months would only be $1200...so I'm guessing the rest was taken out in cash advances, which are nothing more than an advance on your next paycheck. For every $1 you take in cash advance, your next paycheck will be $1 smaller, because you have already received the money. In other words, if your paychecks are only adding up to $120/month, perhaps you should focus a little more on money management....keep track of where your money goes...and try to avoid those cash advances whenever possible.

The second question I have is that at $.22/mile, 31,820 miles will gross more than $7000....and most will do that in about 3 months. At $.32/mile, you should make $7000 in 2 months, at 21,875 miles. If that's all the farther you ran in 10 months, you had no reason to ever be out of hours.

In other words, there are an awful lot of holes in your story.

A company does not need a police report saying you where at fault, or a conviction saying you are at fault in a accident.

They can say you had a preventable accident and report it to DAC. And all you can do is contest it.

If you do have a copy of the police report- I am sure you could submit that to a new companies safety dept showing you where not at fault.
