    BEWARE of CR England!

My husband recently finished the truck driving school at CR England, got his CDL, spent his time out on the road as a trainee and was forced to sit through a 4 hour mandatory leasing class at the end. We had read horrible reviews about leasing and working as an independent contractor in the trucking industry, so he was not interested in leasing his own truck.

After inquiring about some of their posted company driver positions, he was told they were all filled and they did not have any company driver positions available at the time. He was welcome to sit there and wait until a position opened up, and they would pay him $25 a day, or he could lease. Having a family at home to support, he chose to get in a leased truck and put some miles down. He also signed up to be a trainer since that is really the only way these lease drivers make any money unless they drive as teams.

He got in his truck, got his first load - and then he was off to his first home visit in over 2 months. He was at home roughly 14 hours over night and then back out on the road first thing the next day. He drove solo from OR to WA and then from WA to PA where he dropped his second load and picked up his trainee. The very next morning, the truck would not start. He had only been in this truck for ONE WEEK! He had to have the truck towed, which was a $400 bill, and then when he got to the shop, he was told it would be a few days before they could get the truck fixed. He called CR England and was informed that he was responsible for the tow bill, the repairs AND the motel room for both him and his trainee! After he disputed having to pay for the trainee's motel room, they sent another driver to pick his trainee up and left him stranded there.

BEWARE - CR England is as crooked as they come! DO NOT believe them when they tell you that their leased trucks are under a 30 day warranty. This is NOT true! As a lease driver, you are 100% on your own regardless of how long you have had the truck. They will not send another truck out while it is in the shop. You are stranded and stuck with ALL the costs while you are not making a dime because instead of having a truck that's rolling and making you money - it's up on jacks in the shop!

DO NOT BE FOOLED! CR England does NOT care about their drivers nor their independent drivers.

Some of you may read this and think that I'm just another wife of a pissed off driver, thus the bad review . . . but I am telling you, you could be the best guy for the job and this company will still screw you over. My husband is a HARD worker, he's not lazy, he did very well at the school, aced all of his tests, did EVERYTHING that was required of him, completed both Phase 1 and Phase 2 OTR training, was more than willing to accept any load that was thrown his way, was more than willing to work his butt off for this company, followed all the rules and adhered to the company and DOT requirements. He did everything right! CR England lost one of the BEST when he walked away from them!

I will be filing a formal complaint with the OOIDA next!

Hi Patty. They allow the students who have completed Phase 2 training to train those students who are entering Phase 2. It's part of their big sale on the leases. When you have a trainee or you work as a team - you make more money.

He rented a car in Kentucky and drove home to Oregon when they told him he would have to foot the bill for everything including the trainee's motel room and expenses for the three days while they waited for the truck repair. When he refused to pay for the trainee's expenses - they sent another driver to pick him up . . . and that was when he decided to rent a car and come home. He was already losing money - and then to have his 2nd seat taken away - well that was the final straw.

Glad he left, that's absolutely CRAZY to pay for the trainees expenses.I did'nt know companies could do that.England is making more then enough off drivers, they should have just paid for his room.So is england going to go after your husband for not completing the lease and leaving school before completeing that one yr contract?Whats husband doing now for work?

Oh, I am sure we will be getting a bill, and if so, we will be fighting it. He is currently looking for work, but is having a very hard time finding a reputable company to work for without have that 1 year OTR experience.

Heard if you don't complete a lease companies will put you as unhireable. But on a brighter note, look how many drivers go with other companies that did'nt complete the lease program or that one yr contract and especially with CRENGLAND.Bet every company knows they have the worst luck with drivers.

Yeah . . . I was worried about that too - so I made sure that he asked if there was any kind of commitment before signing. He voiced his concerns with the lease and asked about that. He was told that if it didn't work out, he was free to get out of the lease at any time, which was really the deciding factor in getting into a leased truck. The problem I have now though - is that I don't trust anything he was told. They have proven to be one of the most crooked companies in the industry, and from everything I have read online, nothing would surprise me.

If the lease says hes free to leave at anytime then I would'nt worry about it.Hope he read the fine print. Now the one year school contract,be prepared to pay that.Knowing england they're really going to sock your husband for money owed .
