Didn't read the whole thing but not surprised about this topic... heard it many times. I actually spoke to a past company driver that they tried to get to sign a lease and he left. As a co driver, he was there for two years actually and said it wasn't bad since he was on a dedicated account - otherwise it would have been pretty bad from talking to other drivers.

Weirdest thing he told be and most interesting - to get in and talk to anyone (managers/dispatchers) at the salt lake city headquarters, they have you go through a security guard, metal detector and then another guard with a metal wand like at the airport - hmmm too many threats ?? :yes2557::biggrin_2552:

I'm just surprised people still do the lease with them, even after reading posts on here... (not referring to original poster). Hope everything works out for you/husband.

    Thanks BlackLions.

Yeah - I wish we had done our research a little better prior to him agreeing to the lease. I think the problem was that he was pretty desperate to get on the road - turn some miles and make some money to send home - and they really left him no other option since they "claimed" they had no company positions available. They're smart - I'll give them that - they know how to take advantage of someone and get them into that lease regardless of what that persons heard about leasing. That's what really burns me the most - they don't care - they don't think about the family at home that these guys and gals are out busting their tails for . . . it's of no concern whatsoever to them . . . and that is just not right!

This will never stop until someone takes a hard stand and does what needs to be done to put an end to this kind of disregard for family, company drivers and independent contractors

Patty - thanks for the info on the OOIDA membership - it would be worth the $25.00 a year to join. We may look into that :)

I'm sure there's a few or more people on here that went through this but most people just switch companies and give up on doing anything about past experience since it take time and $$ to do anything against these guys and the ball keeps rolling... sad that they're in business.

Membership for ooida is $45 I think, but its $25 w/referral. (if you need a member number, let us know).

    Great - thanks so much!

I have a hard time sitting back and not doing anything. I know it may take some time and money - but that is exactly why these companies get away with this stuff. I just hate the thought of letting them get away with this - and I hate the thought even more so knowing that there are guys and gals out there trying to feed their young children. Thank God we only have one left at home and he is almost 18 and out of school. The thought of these companies taking food from the mouths of babies and young children just turns my stomach.

If they post anything on DAC he can send in his own rebutted account and have it placed on file, just because they post it does not make it the final word.

Here is the link to the old board with information concerning this issue. Hope you and the husband the best and keep your head up, lessons learned and I bet he will come out shining in the end.

When I leased with England back in 2008 my truck broke down the second day I had it. The EGR valve froze but I think that was under the Freightliner warranty so I wasn't charged anything. I had to spend the night in a motel which road service gave me an express code for. They took that out of my paycheck.

wow.I already have to get in the 3rd left lane as it is to get around all the trucks that can't run the posted speed limit staying in the truck hammer lane drag racing another slow truck but I will definately give a wide berth to all CREnglands now that i know they have a trainee training another trainee. That is downright scary.
Best of luck to you and the husband ma'am.
