Who is hauling for these cheap brokers and who is working for these companies and why? Load from Lithia Springs GA to Hamilton Sqr NJ , 817 loaded miles Craig says it pays $1500. (Epes Logistics out of greenboro, NC)
Market for this run calls for close to $3/mile ( $2450 ) and the Contract rate shows $2.44/mile which equates to approx $2000. So who is profitting an extra $1000, if some one actually books this load for $1500, going to a bad market and traffic and tolls.
We have been hearing the shippers complainting about rates being high.
We the owner operators are trying to make an honost buck. Comming south is approx $1.5/mile to $1.6/mile going into the bad market area of Northeast compansate for cheap rates comming south, and supposed to be about $3/mile and with all miles driven the average should be a little better than $2.15/mile considering the minimum cost of operation being $1.53/mile for interstate market.
