So companies should pay for small expenditures because you said so? You do realize that fee is a pass-through that they don't make any money on, correct?

The job you got while waiting for the Doctors note for the job you were going to....probably accepted your current physical.....and the other guy paid for it. Stop complaining and pay the company back for the physical.

The drug test on the other hand.....I wouldn't pay them back for that; and I'd gladly tell them that too....while I was handing them a cashiers check for the physical only.

If the company wants you to take a physical they should pay for it even if you fail, it's still their cost. They should also pay "you" for all time spent traveling to and from and all time spent at said location for physical. They get their money back when they make you sit for free at some clowns dock anyway..... Thats called "the cost of doing business"

    AfterShock Thanks this.

Thats right. Its your time your using to sit on that bench to get something they require. Our company pays us for our time. $85 is about right for 4 hours of a waste of time. Its a good thing you left when you did because they would have probably wanted money for the vaseline or the xxx magnums they were about to use on ya

I agree 100%. But the OP didn't say he failed....said he was waiting on document from his doctors office to clear....and went out and got another job in the mean time.
Obviously he didn't "fail", because the other guys hired him....and you are required to have a D.O.T. physical Long Form & Card.
Unless, the OP (another hit and run poster) still had time left on his previous Physical, and the company that hired him accepted THAT one.....then he must have used the one that B.A.H. Express paid for. IF that is the case....I think the OP should pay B.A.H. back, because the Physical DID benefit the OP, but not the company that paid for it. Make sence?

Also agree 100% on this one too. A lot of companies DO pay for orientation....so in a way you DO get paid for it.
I worked for a company (30 trucks) for 1 1/2 years (late 05' to early 07') until they were bought out. I don't know if I was the only one that could pass a drug test....but I was taking like two "Randoms" per month with these guys.
Drove MY personal vehicle, on MY personal time, to and from the collection sight (20 miles round trip from the house)---got darn sick of it....so I started sending corporate a bill each time (a reasonable $10.00 an hour w/2 hour minimum, and a reaonable $10.00 minimum for gas) $30.00 each time I had to go pee in a cup.
Never saw a dime of it, they told me it was part of the job----but I tried. LOL I'd even call corporate and hassel them like a bill collector.

    Boy ain't THAT the truth!

B.A.H. is correct in requesting the $85. You applied for a drivers position and they invited you to orientation, part of which is the DOT physical , which they pay for. You consented to and completed the physical but decided to seek employment with another carrier, The general rule is once you have been offered employment and depart before completing 90 days, you owe the cost of the physical. Since you left after taking the physical but before the company decided to offer employment, you still owe B.A.H. Express $85. I was a driver for B.A.H. for nearly 7 years and I can say with all honesty, it a very good company to drive for. I also drove another company for 3 weeks and had to pay the cost of the physical out of the final settlement
