If your planning on starting your driving career with USA TRUCK, DON'T!!!! Between the time you'll spend sitting for repairs, waiting for laod assignments,
and short mileage runs, You'll be lucky to break even each week.
With the 1st truck I was assigned, I clocked over 32days in terminals for repairs within the 1st 7months. Then they assigned me a 2nd truck and that 1 had more
mechanical issues than the 1st one did, took them 4days(with no pay) just to make it DOT compliant.
I was made to sit in a truck stop for 4 days (over memorial day weekend) without pay again & when I was supposed to be home. Was told by USA that I wasn't being payed because I refused a load. I never refused any load assignment, this particular load was a 3hr run to pick up and I only had 1 1/2 hrs left in my 14hr clock.
So, the FM(fleet manager) put it down as a refused assignment. This was all after WAITING OVER 7HRS TO RECIEVE ASSIGNMENT!!
All the high mileage runs go to the O/O and lease purchase drivers 1st, then they go to the trainers with students. Whatever is left is then assigned to
the regular company drivers(you the student) and are typically 4-500 miles. I've had a few weeks where I only took home about $150, due to sitting for repairs and their
    load assignments.
I could go on and on with all the hassle's you will encounter while working for USA, The best advise for you is,,,, JUST DON'T SIGN WITH USA TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One last note, I also tried approaching,my fleet manager, fleet manager's supervisor, operations manager & saftey dept, to explain what was happening, I was told by
them to come to Home Office to discuss the situation. It took over 2 weeks to get routed there and the entire conversation didn't even last 3 minutes before I was
rushed out of their office. They claim to have a "Drivers Pledge" but, don't believe what is written!!
USA has only 1 thing they care about and that is USA, they have NO CONCERN about you as a driver.

    pete1 Thanks this.

I honestly (in my 18 years in the industry) STILL can not figure out why trucking companies are so heartless and non-understanding....and feel like drivers are supposed to stick around after pulling stuff like this.

Everyone in that office from President to Janitor has the same common bills as any and all drivers, and know what it costs to survive----yet, for some reason, forget (or just plain don't care) that the driver can not live on $150 a week.

Drivers are looked at as robots I guess.

Trust me....I went through it too. Thankfully sticking it out (like a dumb ***), has afforded me with the experience and longevity to pick and choose; and actually get with small family owned, personable employers that realize I am human.

But their trucks are sooooo pretty.
I want one of those Pete's with the condo windows on top like the ones in the ad saying that experienced drivers are valued there.......

rridgeback what you went thru with usa truck is pretty standard with any company, the mega ones anyway. They should have paid you for all that downtime because it was their fault for issueing you bad equipment. But like anyother company, they're going to find every loophole possible not to pay you.-

I would be more concerned about the financial straits they are in right now.
Their stock is worthless, they recently dumped a whole bunch of decision makers and borrowed a pile of money, they cant get the freight, they aren't even doing well enough to be bought out by one of the bigger fish, and they can't seem to figure out how they want to place themselves in the market.
I almost took a job with them in the spring doing NE regional, which I'm assuming is probably defunct, and boy am I glad I didn't.
But I still REALLY want one of those white Petes. Maybe I'll buy myself one at the auction if they go under.

So you only had 1 hr left for an 8 hr split sleeper or three hrs to have a full ten in.then you could have moved and picked up the load yes.
