This is the way it should be. I'm leased on to a company that gives you the option. They have dispatchers for those that want them. I'm on my own and I love it. Only difference is I don't run any terminal freight period. Next best thing to having your own authority and gets you in the groove for doing so should you decide to. I have a good handful of good brokers that know me well and keep me rollin' with decent freight at decent rates. I've spent the past 2 months running for one in particular. 2 sometimes 3 loads a week. 447 loaded miles. $1500 a pop. I book a load right back for $1000, sometimes $1100, sometimes $800-$900 and do it all over again. I'm doing $5000-$6000 a week on 2000 miles on weeks I only 2! 3 days ago I was going to go home for a few days after 3 1/2 weeks out. Broker called in spot. Someone failed to make a pickup and I was offered first crack at the same load for $1600. I was already there delivering at the pickup so hell yeah. Point is, you're in charge of your own destiny at places like this. For God sakes, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!

I drive for Mercer and I have been approved for RRTS Intermodal division. Can someone give me some information on the Revenue in Intermodal and Sargent Flatbed. I have been told $1500 to $2000 per wk for intermodal, sounds kinda low for me.

Can you earn a living hauling terminal freight exclusively, 1200- 1500 a week?

RR seems to be pushing their contractors to run exclusive terminal freight now. I understand the Xtralease program is out for new IC's. You option will be to rent a 'pool' trailer from them for x amount per week which gives you access to the trailer fleet. You would be able to book frieght occassionaly from non terminal areas, but I'm guessing only freight destined to get you back close to a terminal and not great rates I'm also guessing.

That all said, yes you should be able to do quite well on T2T freight, I know I am doing OK with it. I did finally book my own load from an outside broker for the first time since March 2014 recently, a Landstar load. In the past I've always had to use the in-house RR broker agents. But this load got me back closer to a terminal from the San Antonio area which has no nearby terminal unless you count Dallas; was able to get that Landstar load much closer deadhead wise so saved on the deadhead miles.

Road runner ###### him over. The recruiter told him 100 times his background check done complete he's good go. He left his job. We came out pocket drove to Atlanta had pay for everything ourselves. Gas, hotel, food, new physical. He got there sat threw 2 days orientation. We got home Wednesday night. He was supposed leave Thursday night or Friday get his truck in OH. Recruiter calls Thursday head of safety decided not to pass his background. All he can say is sorry he couldn't do nothing. He claimed he guess they changed there mind cause he waited three weeks after app was approved to go to orientation cause he gave other employment notice. My guess is recruiter lied from the jump they didn't even run background check till he got to Atlanta. So even though he told dude ahead a time about a hiccup with his background guy still told him over an over his background passed. Was bull ####. Bunch issues with other guys in his class and there recruiters as well. Apparently they are having trouble with recruiters not doing there job right....so we are out of our pocket almost $500 down drain over the ####. He had to go to different company in the end. Hes now on the road with Western Express. With them he got better truck fewer miles. He be saving almost $20,000 on a truck. They paid for him to get threre put him up in hotel 3days for orientation. Feed him twice a day. Paid for shuttle to an from hotel. An hate got way better deal pay off on truck sooner as well. #### RR they don't give 2 ##### all money we spent. He did orientation with WE and hit the road right away done been from Nashville to Milwaukee, picked back up in Chicago an heading to Atlanta now since he hit the road. They are keeping him moving!
