Starting with the lies the recruiters tell you and the rush through orientation which was supposed to be three days and it was cut off to a day and a half, while being rushed to a company van with other hired drivers, from Atlanta, GA to Florida to pick up a 2005 Kenworthy with over 700k + miles, let me tell you: We should off walked out during Orientation when we found out about all the lies we were told from the recruiter. However, after enduring a two day Greyhound Bus trip from El Paso, Texas to Atlanta, GA, my team mate (boyfriend) and I decided to stick it out. We were with the company for five weeks and during this time we went through a lot of contravercy. From DM's that don't know what they are doing; sending loads over qualcomm that were supposed to be picked up 5 hours earlier and delivered over 600 miles away within a five hour period, while being dispatched at 50 miles per hour, to DM's getting mad because we did not accept the load due to these same reasons, and then blaming us for the load being late. To getting no home time because they do not have any Texas freight, (one of the recruiter's lies who told us they did). Our last straw? Broke down in Del Rio, TX due to a broken pitman arm in the steering mechanism, which we found during pre-trip inspection for five days. We were in a border town and were told my Break Down that because the truck was still running we did not need a hotel room. I was apalled! We had no access to showers or clean bathrooms, no access to decent and healthy meals and in a border town of all things, during the new year's holiday. We did not hear from our DM for five days, and finally decided to call the big wig of the company and explain our position. We waited for the truck to finally be repaired by a Del Rio, TX Mechanic shop who did a lousy job and asked the big wig to give us the closet terminal where we could return the truck, for we did not want to be charged with abandoning the truck. WE endured the five days. We were told to return the truck to a San Antonio, TX Petro station of Hwy 490 where we met with the operations manager, who was kind enough to take us to the airport to rent a car, at our own expense, so we could come home. Now, we are being told by the payroll department that they never recived the paperwork for the last Trip Pack we sent, which was over 1000 miles and we are being charged $150.00 each for quitting before ninety days. Unbeliavable! Let me tell you, DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! I am curious to see what they are going to put in our DAC report. Unbeliavable!

sad story. i dont doubt your story at all but it seems as though there was a communication breakdown on your end to only last 5 weeks, mostly in regards to the loads and the timing, not accepting loads. they do have texas freight, there is even a terminal in texas. i think what went wrong mostly is your dm got tired of you guys in my opinion, your dm can make or break you, honestly. welcome to otr trucking.

not the best company, true.. my complaint would be too many student drivers being brought in, too many drivers quitting due to poor treatment and poor pay in general (driver retention). i would like the pay schedule to be more transparent so we know when we are due for a raise.

I drove down to see my wife in Michigan when she had a meeting so i drove to super saver pulled in the lot and drove out,Bad equipment, I stopped at the truck stop off exit 76 131 south bound and talked to 2 drivers and they just quit and said it is the worst company of all , Heck it was Gainey that should tell you something, And these drivers had over 12 years of experience, Good luck guys, I know every one is mad about their company, You should never put down someone ,Trucking is trucking, It is what is is, It will never change, You get used to it and the next day will better,A time demanding job is the most stressful only so many can do it, Good luck drivers

Don't expect anything. Take it for what it is, adapt, and overcome. That's the problem with new hires...they build up this list of all the things they expect...and when their needs aren't met, they get hit with a nice dose of reality which isn't so "nice". Trucking isn't a boat load of money, fun, and games handed on a silver platter. You have to put up with crap and put the hammer down. Don't let 'em knock you down, because if you got what it takes, then you'll know it and will just make things easier for yourself further down the line. Don't expect it all at once!

BTW, I worked for Gainey/GTS trans LLC for about 2.5 years and knew it was a bottom feeder company. I kept a level head, did my time, and got out. Think of this company as a stepping stone...and don't lose sight of that light at the end of the tunnel.

Funny how all companies make promises and do not keep them. I worked for SS in 2011. The truck was nowhere near roadworthy. In fact each time you bumped the dock the seat would come off and dump you in the floor. LOL. The matress had a huge spot of blood on it and full of dog hair. So I took that as a do not care about me issue and made a quick exit. I am with a great company now and loving it.

I get a bit leery when I hear of companies offering significant amounts for sign-on bonuses. To me, it's almost like a bait and switch. SS offered me a $2500 SOB (but USA Truck also offered $5,000 for theirs, which makes me think it's a sign of desperation). (Yes, I did apply with them along with a few others, but I think I'm going to pass if they offer me an OTR job.)

that is sad. lack of communication on your guys part, your dm's didn't think much of you and the company easily LOST money on hiring you guys. SS isn't bad, theyre well above avg as far as otr companies. I was with them for over 5 yrs, there is plenty of negative but its a good if not great company if you have a positive attitude.

the trucking industry is rough, you will find ALOT worse I can assure you of that.. I think most of your problem was lack of communication followed by a negative attitude and inexperience.
