Let's start with the good things first, Way back in 1997, I drove for FFE, they knew my name and used it whenever I called in. The entire time I spent at FFE in 1997, I only had the truck in the shop 1 time for a PM. The trailers were a different story. Now for the bad news. For the past 5 months, I have driven for FFE, Let's start with their equipment, The first truck they issued me was a royal POS, It was a 2010 Freightliner and for the 4 months I drove it, I had it in the shop 5 different times. When they finally gave me a 2013 International, things were different. I had to put it in the shop twice. When I went to ask about the lease program, it was a real nightmare, a $42,000 balloon payment and if you could not pay for it, then they would refinance you at a lower rate but they would stretch out the payments for a longer time, basically forcing you into staying with them until you make the payments, or claim bankruptcy. The miles were OK, I stayed busy except for the meat packing plants. Going through the driving academy means you better have your own $ because they do not pay for any of your food, so for the 2 -3 weeks you are there you pay for your own food. Then you go out with a trainer, good luck with that. When you get your own truck, you better hope the trainer taught you to operated the peoplenet system. If not you are going to get so lost. I did make some great friends while I was there but I also was screwed more times than I can count by the company itself. If you are interested in going through FFE's driving academy, I have 1 word for you....DON'T!!! I had to beg, plead, and threaten to get home. I ran out of medicine that I take on a daily basis before I could get home. Go to another company other than FFE. I heard they lost one of their biggest accounts because one of the higher echelon was caught drinking and driving. As a result the stock plummeted, and at least 40 of the O/O had left the company. For the past few moths FFE had contracted with brokered loads. STAY AWAY FROM FFE!!! Trust me I drove for them fo rthe past 5 months. It does NOT get any better.

have you thought about changing careers completely? It sounds like trucking is no longer working out for you after 16+ years. there are other employers that do hire truck drivers. and some do have on the job training. you just have to be willing to work hard and not #####. the jobs are paying better then trucking jobs do.

The above post is a re hashing of one that was posted a while back. FFE is no different from S(w)HI(f)T, CRST, CR CRAPLAND and all of the other #### up companies out there that want something for nothing. If you have health problems that require medication, OTR is not for you. If you're broke and cannot afford food for orientation and training, OTR is not for you. If you like to complain about things in general and have a hard time dealing with tough situations, OTR IS NOT FOR YOU. Stop ######## and get a 9-5 Mr. I need my meds and my own bed and my own crapper blah blah blah....

Does anyone remember when you used go into a truck stop and all you saw was telephones. Everywhere you looked was a phone and a lost truck driver on it. I don't think allot of people would know what to do if they didn't have their GPS. Trucking is not necessarily a super fun job. I like it though. FFE has always been screwed up. They don't take kindly to more efficient ways of making things work. Move on.

Taking meds has nothing to do with otr. He just wasn't prepared. I take meds everyday and if I get low, there's always a walmart to fill them. He's been with them 5 months and still not happy, time to move on.

I still believe that if you have a medical condition so severe it requires daily medication in amounts you may not be able to supply in full while traveling, I don't want to be sharing the highways with you while you're pulling 35000 pounds of whatever. But thats just my personal opinion...

You can refill a scrip anywhere in this country with a simple phone call so traveling without a full supply is nonsense. That's what I thought about the OP's post about having to go home to get his refilled. How do you share the road with the drunk and impaired drivers that travel the highways and wreak havoc on the motoring public? The elderly? The young and inexperienced? The inattentive and distracted drivers or the aggressive drivers? Which category do you fit into? Just because someone takes meds does not make them a safety hazard.

Just to inform you, I was prepared. I had 90 days worth of medication in my possession when I left for FFE. Between the driving academy and the 7 weeks of training, and the 19 days after training, I only had a weeks worth left. That is why I needed to go home to get more. I think you had better learn the entire story before you shoot off your mouth!!

A simple phone call to your doctor could have given you another script, faxed to the pharmacy of your choice (walmart is easiest), to hold you over until you can get home and get your 90 day supply. After being out that long, I think you were just looking for an excuse to get home and I don't blame you.
