Baldwin Distribution is a very bad place to work. They have been bouncing payroll checks since at least November of 2010, every week someone has a payroll check bounce and it is now 2013. And the first payday of 2013 they postponed payday. Payday is Friday, they sent the announcement out on Thursday at about 6pm that we would not be paid until the following Monday. And you never know exactly what you will be getting paid. You can do close to the same number of miles in a week on 2 different weeks and get paid 2 different amounts, even as a company driver. You can drive for two days straight, no break, no sleep and they ask you to go some more and not just a little either. They want you to run 24/7 with no breaks and no sleep. After being up for 45 hours straight, I finally told them I was tired and needed to sleep. They acted like it was the worst sin in the world and I got "punished" - all my miles were taken away and I had to sit for 3 days. And hometime... Last time I asked to go home, I asked for 3 days, I got 8 hours... HOURS, NOT DAYS. They treat their drivers like robots. And now... they will charge you $250 if you turn down a load. Reason does not matter, if you are sick, tired or out of hours, they will charge you $250 if you turn down a load or a switch, basically if you don't do everything they say. Baldwin is desperate for money and they are taking it from the drivers. Gouging the drivers at every turn. When you work for Baldwin, expect to be chained to the truck. They have even complained when I stopped to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. I can run and run hard. But even I need to pee, poo, eat and sometimes sleep. Oh, but those are sins at Baldwin.
