Well everything written here about Morgan Southern is true. They changed the intermodal section to Roadrunner Intermodal Services still the same s*&%y company. I did the lease thing with them too. $250 a week in escrows and you still can't use them for repairs, although that is what they are specified for. Had one tire bad on steer replaced and the tie rods replaced. Had to pay $1080 out of pay plus $10 dollars for billing that repair each week till it was payed. When I was 3 payments behind on my house I parked it on the yard and text the manager that everything was turned into the office. Still put me down as quit under dispatch even though the text was sent 2 days before hand. I was due 2 more paychecks but those were held up for the 45 days it takes for the dead-### office people to do their job. Guess I will never see any money but I will have the satisfaction of being the WHISTLE BLOWER on their 14 to 18 hour days.:biggrin_25513:

What city were you hauling out of? The reason I ask is because I'm looking into getting a lease to own truck from them and work out of the Dallas Ft.Worth area. I talked to the terminal manager and he told me that there was plenty of work. He said that you go out about 250 miles and back daily (no biggie there). I would be back to sleep in my own bed most nights and be off on the weekend for my reset. It sounded alright, although I tried to get a straight answer out of him about how much money could be made (profit) a week after the truck payment and fees if I bought a company truck, as opposed to Arrow. His response came back to "it depends on how good you are with money". That was not the response I expected as it didn't really didn't answer my question. The pay is $1.25 per loaded mile and .83 cents per mile empty, and fuel surcharge.
I'm concerned about the cost of fuel. The truck payment would be $250 per week for a used company truck and much more for a truck from Arrow. Insurance fees are around $60 per week. Then there is two different escrow accounts that they take money from you for weekly. One is for motor work and it's a few dollars per week. The other is for maintenance and I believe he said that was $10 per week. Without all of the figures in front of me it's kind of hard to figure how much I will be left with at the end of the week. If I can't at least gross $1000 per week then I don't even want to mess with it.
I'm trying to find information from somebody that is leasing from them in the DFW area to get some facts about the program and earning potential.

I thought it sounded to good to be true and that is why I was asking questions about Roadrunner. I'm just enquiring, that's all.
I worded some of my statement wrong above. I'm looking for a lease purchase program that will allow me to run local or regional, where I can take $900 -$1000 net home weekly to support my family, after truck expenses and putting some money back for future maintenance etc.

Well driver look at it from his view...he gets 250 ,he gets his cut on the frgt,he gets matinence on the truck and the fuel cost, the insurance and other hidden fees .....and all he has to do is make you fail so he can sell the truck all over again ....hmmmmm you have 23yrs behind the wheel probly no way he could make you get behind the 8 ball on this deal...good luck driver

The forum has many threads with this theme.

    Post 1 or post 1-4
Company XYZ has a bad lease program. This and that happened to me. Couldn't get enough revenue to break even. Lost my house/car/spouse etc.

Next post: I was wondering if they are really that bad? I talked to the recruiter/terminal manager/parts guy. They said I would make $80,000 and be home every night. If you are hell bent on jumping in, nothing said on here will stop you.
    It just boggles the mind.

When you look at a lease there is one important question to ask yourself. Is the company best served by my success or by my failure?

Take $2500 gross and half of that will go to fuel. Minus the truck payment and you are at $1000. Then subtract all the other stuff. If you are buying a $250 week truck it will eat you up in repairs.

No need to make fun of my 23 year work history man. I've hauled heavy equipment, anything that goes in a tanker including LPG. I have worked many of years in the oil and gas industry. I haven't hauled general freight, so pardon me for not being as savvy on the crooks out there. I'm aware that they exist but not first hand. Like I said, I was just inquiring. I'm also level headed and not gullible, irrespective of your sarcastic comment. If you have nothing but insulting sarcasm to respond with, then you really aren't helping anyone, now are you?

Thanks for your response. I'm not going the lease to own route. It seems to me that a person would almost have to be pretty gullible to lease from the same company that controls their work load (dispatch). No offense intended. The company would have you by the short and curlys and could easily make a person fail. I will go back to work for a company for now doing flatbed work. Once I save enough to get y own truck and find a decent company to lease on with, then I will.
