Tallman all newbie companies are NOT like that. Werner and apparently knight are. Werner kept a friend of mine and her trainer trapped out west for a month with ZERO pay while their truck got fixed. Told them if they went home it would be abandonment and put them in one of those roachbag weekly motels in the boonies.

When i started at star my roommate was in a near fatal car crash.. id worked there about a year. I called dispatched and was freaking out. He looked on his board sent a driver to relay my load with his and i went home from pennsylvania to nc. another time a moron newbie was supposed to relay with me in virginia (i think) so i could get home for thanksgiving. I looked for him for 7 hours. They said the truck was nearby. I checked every truck stop and rest area. At 8pm the head dispatcher called me and said "Go home". I said "what am i picking up". He said " a few pounds probably. Go home. Happy thanksgiving". All starting companies arent like that. PS that Was Star out of Morton, il. loved that company

As a professional truck driver, you are taught how to take care of some situations while out on the road. Ask any veteran or experienced driver and they will tell you "yeah its not my truck but if I want to keep rolling so I can get home, or keep making money, then I will have to fix it myself." I have done it as well. I don't want to spend 3 hours plus at a TA truck stop waiting to get a mud flap put on a trailer. I used to carry a few spares with me that I would find. Make new holes and mount it. Fixed, and I am on my way in shorter time. You probably needed new batteries for that truck as well.
