I was looking to start working in the Oil Field in West Texas hauling crude. I found this company on the Craiglist transport page. I shot them a resume and I got a call. I drove 10 hours to hell. They put me up in a room and that very night 2 guys quit. They were super nice at first, but them it started to turn. Twelve hour days turned quickly to 16 hour days. I was learning something new so, I really was kind of over looking the HOS rule. Then after training. I was placed on a team with a guy I didn't really want to team with. Actually I didn't go out to West Texas to team drive but, I ended up doing it. The truck didn't have air and there was only ONE bed in the sleeper and it stunk to high Heaven. I really didn't like that! I informed the owner that I was very uncomfortable with the working situation and he reassured me that he would take care of it. After a week of Hell and a death in my family I quit. When I get my pay check its very short. I was charged $2,250 for my training fees and my pay rate went from $19 per hour to $7.25 per hour. I didn't know that was legal. At the end I received a pay check for $491.00 for a two week work period and the kicker is I still owe these people $315.00 for some more fees. I guess these guys never heard of the Emancipation Proclamation. DO NOT WORK FOR KICKIN A TRUCKIN of Monahans, Texas. They are looking for Team and Solo Crude Drivers and in the Odessa, Texas Area!

That's strange for sure. I applied for this company and they would not hire with out 1 yr experience.

Sir consider yourself lucky. I wish I would have went and hauled water instead of trying to haul crude. That place is a joke.

    Dear Bladesta,
First of all, we want to take this time to thank you for stepping up to the plate for the week of transition as we took on the new contract to provide our drivers with a better income opportunity. We greatly appreciate your efforts to oblige our needs during a crazy transition period.
Our goal is to give every new driver all the necessary tools to become a safety minded, knowledgeable and prosperous Crude Oil Transport Driver and it saddens us to hear you came away with a less than desireable experience working with KAT, although we understand that writing is a great way of calming yourself down and get some perspective on a tough situation, we wish that you would have given us just a bit more time for the dust to settle, im sure you would have had a very different view of our company.
Learning to haul a hazmat product safely and testing Crude Oil to API standards is invaluable training we provide, unfortunately it does cost a company time and money to train to these standards for your safety and it forces companies to recoop those costs from drivers who dont see a project through. Please feel free to contact us with any questions and concerns.
KAT wishes you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

What a reply! I almost got diabetes from all the sugar in this post. Kat makes it sound like they haul crude oil, rainbows, and unicorns.

First of all Kicking A Trucking, there is no need for me to calm down because I find myself very calm. How in the world can you justify the way I was inconvenienced. KAT has temporarily robbed me of my ability to take care of my family. I did not seek out a team opportunity in which I was I was told that I was going to be paid $325 per day and was eventually paid $7.25 per hour. Kickin A Trucking is an abomination to the trucking industry. Honestly API standards can be learned in 2 days. I truly started this blog to prevent someone from making the same mistake that I did. Stay away from KICKIN A TRUCKING!

I try to look at everything from both sides and when people create an account and complain about a company, I immediately become skeptical. We only hear one side of the story, and there are a lot of times when the trucker is the problem. When he is the only one to tell a side of the story, sometimes companies can get a raw deal.

HOWEVER, he accused your company of working him illegally, cutting his pay by almost 12 dollars an hour once he decided to quit, and being charged thousands of dollars in training fees. As long as he was notified of the fees before being hired, I guess there isn't much he can complain about. But forcing a driver to work illegally and cutting pay because he quit is illegal and should never happen. The fact that you made no attempt to refute those claims makes me assume they must be true.

Just #### $2250.00. I thought I had it bad with a company. I quit a job regional with schnieder national due to terrible dispatch. I ended up driving the truck back to the operating center I was hired out of and they charged me for bringing the truck back at 1.50 a mile. My check was 730.00 and only got $8.00. I was pissed. Couldn't find a lawyer to help me. But $2250.00 because u quit due to family emergency and working conditions, I would have quit too or ask for a temp leave. All I can say is stay away from Schnieder national, they only want to hire workers for cheap. I suggest you try to find a local or dedicated account, then you could pay off tht wopping $2250.00 bill for stepping foot on Stinkin-A-Truckin property, but then again you shouldn't pay that bill at all. I hope I don't get billed for the interview. lol.
