When in orientation they make you feel like you won the lottery because they called you. When you go out with a trainer you will drive until you can't see straight, home very early on Friday. After training it's a different story. Your miles will go down drasticly and the .1 cent per mile pay! is a joke!
If you drive 250 miles it means you maid $2.50 cents to fight the tarps. I've been with them a year and spend all the time i can looking for something else.
If you're not on the buddy system you will grow to hate the place. You'll run short runs all week then on Friday you'll be 500 miles away from home.
You have to lie like a dog on your log book and the truck is so slow, 62 miles an hour.
They do not respect or treat drivers good at all!!! very high turn overs. At least 5-6 driver a week quit, some with a good amount of time in.
Stay away from Mcelroy truck lines

.1/mi??...I don't believe that for a second!!!MJ1657 Thanks this. -
It's hard to make decent money and be home on weekends. Isn't McElroy owned by Seventh Day Adventists? If your religious preference dictates off time on weekends, that's a good company to work for; otherwise, move on. I've talked to many drivers that are very happy with the work schedule at McElroy. Take a look at Melton Truck Lines, Howard Transportation, Maverick.

I've heard only good things about MTL until now. From somebody else's thread I read drivers average about 2000 miles/week. They say they get drivers home every weekend, but things come up. My husband is going to apply because home time is important to us, but we understand there may be times when he is out on a weekend. Things happen. Not every trucking company is a good fit for everybody. You really have to research them thoroughly.
Xile Thanks this. -
If you're going to make up a story try not to go quite so overboard.
.01 a mile? -
The only thing I figure he's talking about with the .1/mile is the .1 raise drivers are supposed to get after 6 months. They start student drivers at .40 cpm then at 6 months it is supposed to go up to .41 cpm, and so on every 6 months until you are making .45 cpm.

45 cents a mile running only 2000 miles will gross out to 900 doesn't sound to bad to me .
