Well I am not sure where to start here. I have had many issues with Prime since I started two years ago. My biggest beef is long waits for load assignments. Poorly managed appts. and such. They give appt times on places that are first come first serve. That isn't my main thing though. The thing that has me really chapped off today is, I was sent a load the other day. I went and picked it up and was given a delivery time of 04/24/07 at 00:00 Now I know this means it is an open appt. however" it is usually during the day of the date given. This time I am an hour away from what we call "the 90" which is the reciever on 4/23/07 at 18:00 local time. I get a Q/C "Qualcom" Msg. that the appt was now on 04/25/07 at 09:00. Now that may not seem to be to much out of the norm. My prob. is I am a lease operator. That load deterimned wether or not I get a check this week. And our "cut-off" day is on tuesday. so everthing up untill 16:00 on tuesday gets paid on friday. I was so infuriated I quickly responded to my "Travel Agent" that I wanted this load on this weeks check and I wanted detention time for changing the appt. I don't get paid to sit around like this. I have had many other instances of long waits for load assignments often resulting in several 34 hr restarts over a two week period. I feel this is unacceptable. They expect me to live on the road 11 months out of the year and put up with this nonsense. On the other side of this is the money. I hired their "In House" tax firm to do my taxes. I grossed a whopping 30k in 06 and they gave me an AGI "Adjusted Gross Income" of just under 17k. now I am ran in the hole to the IRS for 4k. I don't gross enough to save to give them. So I have had this discussion many times. I am not going to do this for peanuts. I left a 24k a year job with week-ends off and every holiday known to mankind off and paid for. Not to mention my health insurance was paid on my behalf 100 percent. "Yes it was a state job". I am not impressed with Prime at this moment, but nonetheless! according to what some of you have written about your company I suppose It isn't so bad. They tell us when freight gets slow we all have to dig deep. I told them I would be happy to "DIG" as deep as they do and would they be so kind as to relieve us of our lease payments during these so callled "SLOW" times. I didn't get a response. I can't imagine why! LOL. Well' If any of you have had any issues with Prime I would love to hear them. I told myself when I started this I was not going to play hopscotch trucking companies. Yet I find myself wanting another place to be. I prolly will make a move but I only want to do it once. Got any Ideas? would love to hear them. I have heard good things about LandStar. Does anybody know anything about them? Thanx for reading and I Look forward to hearing from you. BE SAFE |

Wow, they have an in house tax firm? I don't remember that from when I was there. What you are saying though sounds very much like Prime Inc.

YEs the do. I just fired them the other day. They Charged me fifty dollars to tell me "Based on your 06 tax return you should send 1k the IRS this Quarter" I felt that I was being ripped off. Hell any moron can take their 06 return and divide it by 4. Then they had the unmitigated gall to charge me fifty dollars for it. I told em in the infamouse words of Donald Trump "YOU'RE FIRE"!

I picked up a Prime compact disk advertisement that was at a truckstop a few weeks ago. I listened to it, and man they sure made it sound like leasing their trucks was a great deal. They really did--almost had me considering it. Isn't leasing a truck basically just renting a truck? And then you've got to pay for the fuel, tires, repairs, upkeep, etc? The man on the CD said that after 2 years Prime will lease the driver an even better "Super Century Freightliner." And in that *Super* truck, you can lower your airbags and its geared to pull heavy loads better. I guess that the trucks they originally lease to their drivers are *not so super*.

Well, the way I see it, you shouldn't go into any lease purchase agreement unless you are ready to become a 100% owner operator. At that point, you might as well buy a truck and make smaller payments than you would with a lease. I would remain a company driver before I would ever pursue a lease purchase again.

"Super Century" is what Prime calls it, not the manufacturer. "Super Century" is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. My whole point was Prime's slick advertising. I listen to Dave Ramsey on SAT radio, and he calls vehicle leases "fleases," because they are such rip-offs. Another thing that *seems* like a good idea is Prime's CDL school. It isn't a school at all: the student gets his permit, then he goes out with a Prime trainer. After a while, he comes back and is tested. That is actually a good way to get both training and experience at the same time without having to go thru some CDL-mill school. Only problem is I think there's a contract involved. And I think Prime is nothing but an O/O lease deal. Wow, that's a very extreme situation for someone with no driving experience to get involved with. --------- Man I'm telling you they are some slick salesmen! They described their main terminal as some kind of truck driver Disneyland.
