Forbidden Exclamation Warning!!Stay Away!!! Lies Lies Lies!!

Stay away from Hurricane Express in Springdale AR. They will lie to you just to get you to come to work. They promise 3500 miles a week but fail to tell you that is one way....have to complete 1 round to get a pay check.. Literally coast (maine) to Coast (Cali). Ran from midwest to Cali and back twice...along with sitting a few days said they didnt have anything. Dont ask for anything else or they will fire you. and report to DAC that you abandoned the truck, late deliveries.. anything negative. along with canceling a payroll check, ($352.00) So they can get there $1,000.00 Abandonment charge and then they reissued a check for $89.00 for work done Feb 1st to Feb 24th. They make you sign a lease agreement on the truck @95.00 a day. I could go on and on but this is just a summary....leave a message if any questions... I have since filed a complaint to the IRS and the Arkansas Dept of Labor..and will be going to small claims if need be. Just stay away this company has caused my family alot of financial Stress.

Not long ago....

Not too long ago someone else posted something negative about Hurricane Express here. I replied to him that he shouldn't expect anything more from a company that is named after a natural disaster.

I'm sure this company will want you to fireball, meaning they'll want you to drive their precious trucks 75 mph no matter if you're in Nevada or Ohio. 75 mph is the minimum speed of hurricane winds, and I'm sure that is the minimum speed one will have to drive at Hurricane Express. That is if and when he's not sitting around in truckstops waiting on loads.

I have to say I have a problem with guys who state a company "makes" them do certain things, such as sign papers. No trucking company can force you to do anything you don't want to do. There are too many companies out there that don't require such coercion. Find one of those and go, cat, go.

I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right

They make it sound good

They Tell you all this good stuff but they leave the bad part out! I have since put our Dually back to work. Tired of all the bull that goes with the road tractors. I prefer not being a company driver, Need more money. Hauling cars is alot better cause you have something they want, they dont have to make room for it....Not saying trucks havent been good to us thru the years, but just had my share of bad companies lately!
Thanks for the reply!

WRONG. Some companies are ALL bad. No matter how many times you try to dress up a turd it will still stink,LOL. ALWAYS read your lease agreement before signing it. They cannot legally deduct anything that is not stated in the lease. IF those 95.00 a day deductions are not in your lease than you have a good case against them.

Don't run you enough- or pay enough!

They run you coast to coast and you get paid after a round. =
2 days get loaded on coast
4 days to get to other coast
2 days unload/load
4 days back to coast
12 Days # 95.00 a day = 1140.00

there load coast to coast only pays 4500.00 including fuel surcharge x 2 = 9000.00 # 71%
=6390.00
-1140.00 Payment
5250.00
-5400.00 Fuel (approx $2800.00 1 way x 2) Got to love the price of fuel!
u owe them 150.00 Not to mention any Insurance, Breakdown, Tires , Tolls........

there loads dont ever pay more than 4500.00 one way because of a winter rate they bank what it pays over that and in winter if loads go under that u still get that...It doesnt make since because we would get that from Cali to St.L when i had my truck.
But they dont tell you any of this until you have already been there. and of corse you always try too think positive " maybe I can run an extra one......" all u know that. Life in this business i guess!

Figuring your fuel expense at an average of 5.5 MPG at $3.00/Gallon, that is a 9900 mile round trip, and that percentage is paying you .64/mile.

I assume you running team to run right at 5000 miles in 4 days.

Out of curiousity what was your normal runs? This seems like a very long coast to coast trip, that or there is a discrepancy in the fuel bill.

not sticking up for hurricane but the fuel doesn't add up,also I believe those loads pay more than 4500,they pull reefers, right? They aren't dumb, reefer must pay them 180 at a low rate one way and more the other way. No offense but when I called them they said I would be running and staying out for a good 3 or 4 weeks,I knew the payments on those trucks and insurance would have to be really high, with no down payment you would have big payments even thru a bank yourself. There is no magic to it. You live in the truck, run outlawish and make money, but someone is gonna pay for the fuel and truck, guess who? YOU. want good advice,go get a good job,401 k everything you have put into paying for that truck, when you get 2500 or 30000,go shopping and get you one. i will bet unless things change on fuel and rates you will decide not to get your own then. I'm only telling you this from my own experience,I have done right and wrong, had my own 3 times, its not easy, divorces, motor problems, lease problems, just trying to save ya all some aggravation.

The fuel is from cali to maine. The fuel is going by what he ran just to here (Midwest) He would not ever take a maine that is why he was only there for 1 month and ran two trips, he asked if they had anything else and they fired him. They are the most shadddiest we have ever seen and we have been leased to some shaddy outlaws....and yes he runs from home (Southern Ill) to cali and back in 6 days if everything goes off and on good. he is with a company know but getting out of the whole they put us in and now to find out they put a bad report on his 13 year good Dac, pisses me off, but i WILL get them to take it off, Im not a dummy and i have been to the labor board and court with a few other companies that tried to be shaddy and im going again! I keep all paperwork.. just wish hubby would have left when they gave him the papers to sign but i can still fight it, and as for a 401K we have IRA's the benefits dont mean to much to me if it doesnt pay the bills. We werent meant to have our own....we have done it so many times it isnt even funny.. Starts out good but ends bad.. but this time it didnt even start out good...There was No good.

they also tell you their freight pays 1.60-2.10 mi. plus fuel

That's what it supposedly pays

Maybe somebody is just lying to you about how much the load pays.
