Oakley Transpotation

    I read some of the gripes on here about Oakley and have to agree with most of them. ( I didn't research the legal concerns). Their dispatchers get paid based on the profit between what Oakley charges and what the truck gets. If you get a greedy dispatcher you can't make any money. When I was in orientation their were 5 others, 2 had quit and come back. While the company man was out of the room I asked them why they quit the first time and one man said he and his dispatcher had lots of problems so he asked for another DP and they refused so after a while he just quit. On our 3rd day they assigned us DPs and they handed the names on a piesce of paper and 2 Company men were staring at that guy when he opened his and got the same dispatcher again. Oakley is all about control. If you ever complain about something you will get twice as much of it until you learn not to complain anymore or quit and they don't care if you do. They recruit about 250 new drivers a year and about 5% stick with it. By the time they assigned us DPs we already had our signs and wet kits installed. I really think most of the people there are real Chicken #####! When I deleased after 2 years, no one would look at me when I left. The lady that handled the paper work was even hateful to me. I was in a good mood and tried to say bye to a couple of guys, but it was like they weren't allowed to speak or look up at me. Most of the people there act like they are constantly afraid of losing their jobs. Sad way to run a company! I also think I was the last of the six of us. Also you have to remove and return all signs, stickers base plate, and all paper work including the little spiral notebook. If you don't you don't get your last check. I wouldn't recommend Oakley to my worst enemy!

    I worked for those nasty people about 6 months. I was trying to be stubborn and not quit. If I did not let them screw me over on a paycheck, they refused to dispatch me. Then, my tractor needed maintenance (8 days after an A/B service). Now I had no load, tractor or ride to a motel with all my stuff!!!

    Another driver was going home, so he brought me to a motel and helped me unload my stuff into the room. I rented a car, went home and got another job. After I was gone for about 6 weeks, they called me and asked "are you ready for a load yet?" Seriously.

    Are you two talking about Oakley Transport the tanker outfit or the Oakley based in Arkansas? Thanks.

    They're talking about Bruce Oakley out of Little Rock, Ar.. I was thinking about the tanker outfit in Florida also until i made it half way through the first post and read about the company installing a wet line kit on the truck.. Oakley in Florida doesn't have L/O's.

    Ok, thanks, man. I might be getting on with Oakley in Fla. but I wanted to make sure. Trying to avoid any horror shows. lol

    only thing i know about Oakley in Florida is that they're down in Lake Wales, and they have pumps, and haul whiskey. They do the juice, and milk gig like Indian River but I think pretty much every food grade tanker does juice and milk.

    i know nothing about pay or home time. I'm actually considering buying a truck and going to Bruce Oakley and playing with an end dump.

    This sounds like a horrible experience and I'm sorry any driver with any carrier is treated that way. That being said, I think we have our Oakleys confused. Oakley Transport doesn't hire O/O's and doesn't lease units. 100% company units. Again, sorry that happened to you with that carrier, As a former driver myself, I would not let that happen here at Oakley Transport. Not on my watch.     We haul all sorts of food grade liquids but most are one of three: oils, alcohol or juices. Depending on the time of the year any one of those three will be busier than another like right now; juice is drying up in the south so we are seeing more juice loads to the north but at the same time oils are picking up as more people are going out to eat. Come the winter time when people are eating less fried foods the alcohol picks up and then it's just about time for the fruit harvest again and more juice. So goes the cycle.

    As with most carriers, home time largely depends on where a person lives. If a driver lives fairly close to the big roads in a carrier's operating area the chances are pretty good that they won't have an issue getting to the homestead. A driver living in Moose Knuckle, MT might have issues if the carrier doesn't run through the N/W often.
