Probably depends if the driver was at fault. If he wasn't,he/she probably gets half a ride home.
If at fault, you get rolled into a ditch and family gets billed for ditch disposal.

I have read all of this and yes it is horrible and I agree SRT should've done SOMETHING as a wife of an SRT driver I can honestly say that ANYTIME I have called into to them I have been treated with respect as a parent of 3 kids with terminal illnesses that has happened .......3 different times since November of 2012 my oldest son has been in ICU on life support and with exception of 1 minor infraction this company has moved heaven and hell to get my husband home from as far away as Utah to Florida sadly in June I had to make that call letting his DM know my 19 yr old baby was once again in ICU and Dr's wanted to pull plug on Wednesday (this was on a Monday) my husband sitting in N.Y. they got him home Wed evening my son took his last breath on that Sunday morning thanks to the caring people at SRT my husband was able to be with our son and was able to take unlimited time off no questions asked......so yes it was a terrible thing to go thru and I am very sorry for the loss of a loved 1 but I just wanted to let y'all know SRT is not the monsterous company they're being made out to be......and as a wife/daughter/sister of a whole gang of drivers I have been around alot of crappy companies

Does not excuse what they did to this drivers family , not in the slightest . This family should not have had to completely deal with this 100% on their own . They had ample warning to check on this driver and did not which in my opinion is form of liability on the company . However , never the less SRT should have stepped up to the plate and helped one of their own . When a driver is that far away from home and something of this magnitude happens the company should also MOVE - Heaven and Earth to get them back home as well .
SRT wishes that they would have done so now I'm sure , but its how you act in the heat of the moment that defines you . It's called LEADERSHIP , INTEGRITY , COMMITMENT .. And in my opinion SRT had NONE in this situation . -
This issue needs to stay as a HOT TOPIC and we need to try and get justification or clarification on this situation by SRT . We need to find out -
1. Who made the decision not to help
2. Who wanted to charge this family to transport a employee
3. Who was in the know at SRT
4. Why did the early calls for help go un answered
5. Who didn't relay the early calls for help
then ultimately - what will SRT do to both .. Make it right and what will they do in the future going forward . Will they put a program in place for this type of tragity ? Or will they just go on BUSINESS as USEUAL ?
This will be seen by other carriers you can bet on that and how we as drivers react to this situation may also give them cause to look at there procedures going forward .
Why should you care ?
Cause next time it could be YOU & your family in this same exact scenario . How would you want it handled.drvrtech77, TruckDuo, Lilbit and 2 others Thank this. -
As to the statements on Life Insurance ..
no one ever said that SRT should have paid for the mans funeral .
SRT should have got the driver home to his family .
Why ?
Cause he was conducting BUSINESS he was DISPATCHED to do by SRT in the equipment owned by SRT. Therefore wouldn't he have been on OFFICAL Company Time ( even if on break ) and on or in Company Property at the time of death ?
They should have obligation by LAW ( not sure just saying ) to return this man home . There are laws as to handling of a dead body ( corpse ) did SRT follow or use guidelines to do so ? Or did they only consider them selves . ( you decide )
but as to life Insurance - no one asked SRT ( that has been stated ) to pay for burial or cremation of this driver but to simply return him home .Lilbit, kimbosa, Roadmedic and 1 other person Thank this. -
US MARINE, mamamullins and Lenham Thank this.

Does anyone know who srt's main vendor/customers are? Flood their sites with this story, asking if this is the kind of company they want repping them.
Then social media for a boycott of that chain and product. -
The other thing I just thought of is this. SRT failed to make any effort to find this driver. Does SRT run qualcomm? If so, then they should have been able to get a pretty good fix on the driver's location in no time. I know those systems can do that. Personal experience tells me that.
Lenham Thanks this.
