Southern refrigerated sent me an email today asking me if I want to come join their company... i responded by saying due to the fact that The way you treat drivers families when you have a dedicated driver passed away in your truck demanding cash before return of his remains and belongings disqualifies your company as being on my list of potential companies to drive for... I cannot look at myself in the mirror to drive for a company that treats the people who make them the money in this manner along with their families so therefore due to your lack of moral values I am declining any offer from your company indefinitely.

new to trucking...well my boyfriend is anyway...this frightens me so to think a company would treat any employee this way. I worry all the time about his safety on the road and that he will make it home ok...never even crossed my mind that god forbid if the worst did happen the company may or may not do the right thing...god bless the souls of the drivers that stepped in and got him back to his family
48Packard Thanks this. -
Sickening thing is many, many companies (though I can not speak for the "Christian" organization that owns SRT and Covenant) have a free life insurance policy for drivers, for which a driver can name his or her beneficiary.
I simply can not believe the same company would not have some kind of insurance to cover a tragic event such as described by the OP. And if they do, then they're "double-dipping" in the most vile, greedy way possible.
The longer I go on this, the angrier I get......Roadmedic Thanks this.
