They are wanting me to interview. I am a guy who just finished trucking school. I don't find anything good about any trucking company that takes student/new truck drivers with no experience. Any suggestions? Do you just take the best of the bad and run with it until you get one or two years in. It is real disheartening and down right depressing trying to find anything good about a trucking company to start with.

Hello mdkarle, you want to get two years under your belt. Once you have 2yrs done,i would go with a local ltl freight company. With a LTL company your home daily, and most pay well,if your think company driver. I would start with schnider, I've heard they are decent. Good luck to you.

This company is the only one offering 0.32 cents per mile for a new driver. All other offers have quoted 0.26 cents per mile. All offer increases at about the same times but the other guys were quoting me only a 0.01 cent increase but this company offers 0.02 cent increase. Is this just hogwash or can it be true? Any new drivers out there with them know, anyone at all know? I need the pay for the family but I don't want to be stuck with someone for two years if they aren't worth their salt.

Which company is this?

DART, is that not what the thread about?
-
Not sure about the fleet driver side of it. I spoke with a few and they sound abou t the same as I,a far as the dispatching and attitudes. Just trying to give a heads up to all, this company is a headache.

Hmm I have been with Dart since 07 with one 10 month hiatus where I went to do the whole dispatch myself thing. I started out with them as a lease driver and did that for 2 years, then ended up buying a truck outside and turned in their lease truck.
anyway I'm back and can't see myself leaving them again. Overall the best company I have worked for in nearly 11 years. This company being a headache? They make being an owner operator easy if you ask me.
However you are dependent with dart on having a proactive fleet manager if you run national account to keep you going. If your fleet manager isn't you will struggle to keep moving. At which point you discuss it with them, if that still doesn't fix it you fire them and get another fleet manager. Which dart will do for you.
Me, Im personally on a dedicated Georgia Pacific, target, and General Mills conglomerate account. I average 3200 miles consistently every week. In the past 30 days I have netted 7200.00 and that's net after fuel and after my maintenance reserve account. Which I put $.15 a mile into. Which comes out to be practically a truck payment in and of itself every month.
I will say I have heard mixed feelings about their Texas regional fleet, and a few years back I tried their super south which I didn't care for...however they do have some good fleets or just go national.
Sorry it didn't work for the OP. however your going to get those stories from any company. As for DART being crooks? That's laughable. They are one of the most up front companies I have dealt with. And yes even their lease option is pretty decent. -
TruckDuo Thanks this.

Type in almost any company and your going to get bad reviews. That doesn't change the fact I've been with them for nearly 7 years and have done amazingly well. Do they have their problems? Every company does..
For me at least. They have been a great company to run with. -
I am to go for the testing in truck tomorrow (Friday) then a physical and etc. What is the physical like? Sounds unusual because of some kind of isokinetic testing machine used to test out muscles/physical capacity?? Never heard of such a thing. Is it real hard to pass?
