I would advise against posting that type of identifying info. Let me know if you want it deleted and I will take care of it for you.

you havent had time yet to learn that they just totally lied to you about home time. you will be scheduled to stay out over the weekend evry 3 weeks. they tell you they will do their best to get you home every weekend, how is scheduling you to stay out doing all you can? also if you are running on paper logs you will be told to run illegal. if you dont want to run illegal tell them you want to use electronic logs, that takes care of a lot of things.

Been with CE for Six Months today. Can't really say anything about time off, as I stay out 90 Days straight. On my Vacation now, until Saturday. I use ELD and only run Legal. Even on paper logs, they can't make you run Illegal! Nobody can, but you. If more Drivers would stand up for themselves, this sort of behavior wouldn't happen. Just makes me mad when anyone complains that a Company made them do this or do that. Nobody can make you run illegal! If anyone asks that of you, just call Safety or HR and report that Person. Again, more Drivers need to stand up for themselves and the "other" Drivers need to STOP running illegal, if any are!

Besides, having to run the Weekend every 3 or so Weeks isn't bad. If I remember correctly, the Recruiter did mention that we will be expected to work a Weekend here or there?

Hey I'm considering this company. I was wondering a few things. How many miles can I bank on if I'm otr? Where do they usually run for otr? I'm hoping to go to cali sometimes. I'm looking to run at minimum 3000 a week. I see they pay for stops, layover and detention. When do they start the pay for each, meaning, pay after x amount of stops? After x amount of hours for layover? After x amount of hours for detention?

Also I'm wondering where is orientation if working out of the Gaffney terminal? Will lodging be provided and meals? Is there orientation pay? What type of drug testing do they do? My girlfriend hates body hair, so I usually shave and keep a close hair cut. I'd have to wait some time for my hair to grow back if they conduct hair testing, which isn't a prob but just wondering.

I've read a lot of the negative about this company but I'm not a push over type of guy so I wont be doing anything that I don't feel is right or Im not comfortable with. I see the pay is extremely well and that's what I care about the most lol. How much are you paying and how many miles can I run a week? I also care about waiting long periods to get loaded or whatever but if they pay detention and pay starts within x amount of hrs I can deal.

Can I put apu in truck? I need to have a fridge and microwave because I don't eat out a lot.

Sorry if this is a lot but looking for info from truckers and not just recruiters as we all know they LIE!

I'm glad I did not go there!
I had them calling me for weeks trying to get me signed on...
Once I noticed half the fleet was mini-sleeper Freightliners......Oh heck no!

Good to know recruiting is full of BS....They told me home EVERY weekend too.

Hello, unhappytrucker I am glad to see that you are still posting here. You and I exchanged messages thru this board a few months ago just as I was starting with Continental. The Ohio office did send your contact info to me per your request and I managed to loose the info. Sorry about that. I wanted to say thanks for the encouragement and thanks for your continued posts here. I cannot argue with anything you have posted. To all of the naysayers on this board, I would have to say that you guys just want the world to be given to you on a platter or you simply do not have a realistic view of the trucking industry or what you have to do be successful in this business. Continental has generally been good for me. They keep me busy. The hours are long but they do pay me better than any of my previous trucking employers. The people that run the Fort Worthy office have been good to me...I always have loads to deliver. They have been very supportive. The mechanics take care of my truck. I was given a truck with over 800,000 miles on it to start out with and it appeared to be in good shape. After one week on the road, I was called back to the yard and reassigned to a much newer truck. I did not ask for this...it was just done. I later learned that at the time it was the newest truck in the Fort Worth fleet. I have been on the job now for just over three months. At this point I would have to say that Continental is the place to be for a regional or OTR driver. The Fort Worth facility is practically brand new, the trucks are in good shape, and most of the Fort Worth area customers are easy to get into, get loaded and get on the road. I am running just over 2000 miles per week and am currently asking for more. Regarding working weekends, I say to anyone that this is something to be expected. It is not a perfect life but if you are going to be a trucker you have to expect this type of schedule. The only way to improve on this is probably to be an owner/operator. That life brings up a whole new set of problems to deal with as everyone should know and expect. I have to say at this date that Continental is the place for me.

Unhappytruker, if you want to send me your contact info thru the Ohio office again, that would be great. If you want to transfer from your current office to the Fort Worth Operation, I would encourage you to consider it. Best, regards,

    Rob

I stay out 90 days all the time. When I resigned from Goodyear (built Truck Tires), after 14 years to be a Trucker, I sold everything. No Bills, no House, no family and no problems. I just use what I need on the road and save the rest. It's really not all that hard. I am a loner by trait and enjoy not having to deal with people and the drama they bring with it. But again, that's just me. I'll take my one paid week of vacation every 90 days. Weather I use the whole 7 days off in a Hotel or not is another matter. LOL, I usually return to work after a few days off.
