You have an major accident or get hurt on the job, unless you carry your own insurance to cover your butt, you will have a rude awakening. And you are willing to pay the "whole nine yards" of Social Security, unbelievable! Plus going thru the trouble of having to make sure that you have sent enough taxes in each quarter to cover yourself. Tell you what, anyone who works under a 1099, besides a truly independent contractor, is really wanting a job. Add all this and then top it off with, IT IS ILLEGAL!

Click on the link below and enlightened yourself on the law.

Correct. Like I said I've been self employed my entire life. It's not a w-2 job... If your asking if I could work somewhere else YES I personally can. I like working here for many reasons I personally have a tax account & yes a LLC but laws differ from state to state even counties within states.... But point of this post is not a debate over this. It's a statement saying this is a good place to work...

I'm a driver brother, not a tax account Or a lawyer. I've worked from a 10-99 for 16 years. & yes you better believe I pay my taxes.

Are u a driver? I am, I make on low end say $1300 before taxes. So after my taxes & health insurance. I clear what? $850...

Are u a w-2driver? How much do you make? Why are you so intent on giving this company a bad rrepention? Are you a or a former sub contractor of Martin? I don't understand all your negatively

Been one since 1963. Retired from a major LIL carrier several years ago. Sit home for a little while and got bored and came back. Leaving this morning on a 1300 mile trip. Had my own truck for 10 years, I know all about being an independent contractor, but it was my truck, I was not driving for a company and allowing them to pay me under a 1099 , AIN'T NO WAY!

Had a friend who was driving under a 1099, got involved in a serious accident. Had to pay all his medical bills and got sued and pay for all the legal proceedings.

The LLC is a limited liability Company. The reason you get this & a tax Id is for taxes & for if an accident was to happen it separates you personally from liability. Noone in the world wants an accident to happen. But if you have never owned a business I guess you wouldn't know.

1st and formost you find a tax account aka tax attorney and have them apply for a LLC & tax id id. You never work under your ssn & don't ever forget it! The contractor can & does provide there own insurance on there eequipment.

It's all about preference. You like where you work, I like where I work... I'm gonna continue to do my job following my company policy while you work at your company following there policy....

I just seen that post & can't understand why someone would post a false statement about a company that bends over backwards for the drivers that work there...

That's all I am going to say as I have a weekend off &look forward to enjoying it before hitting the highway again on Monday

If they pay you 1099 they are not a good company to drive for..why ?..they are cheating you out of all rights & compensation afforded you as an employee..Why ?,so the cheapskates can keep more of the money..

So there not a good company to work for because they pay with a 10-99??? This is why I stay off these blog site's.....That's like me saying I have a phoebia of driving red trucks and will never set foot in one.... I cant stand large corporate companies because it's there way or the high way... If I listened to every other opinion I heard in life i'd be broke or dead.... So back to the original statement... "I've worked hear for 3 months & this company has yet do me wrong"!!!

I've been paid with a 10-99 for no less than the last 15 years of my life & don't plan on changing... And yes I pay my taxes like everyone else...I'm insured like everyone else SO say what you want I'm done with this thread

I don't think you understand what we are saying. Read what bigdogpile wrote. The 1099 is a way to get around doing the right thing. It is illegal. You're not a contractor. You're an employee. So what they have done is stripped your rights away as an employee. Also, spending 8 weeks on the road and driving 500 miles everyday and only making $1000, especially when there's no taxes being taken out, you're really not making much money. Because you have to pay those taxes. You're being screwed left and right and can't even see it.

They may treat "you" right, and be fine folks to drive for, but do you have, paid sick days, vacation days, health insurance, workers comp,401k ??..my 50 cpm plus bennies would be better than a 1.5 cpm ...you will pay FICO 100% off of your gross, employees pay 50 employers pay the other 50..This is why we say its not a good company..They are skirting their financial obligations and short changing you..But your happy there is like saying, at least "they lube it up when they go up in me"

Now if you tell them never mind all that 1099 bs just pay me in non reportable cash then I'll say you drive for a good company..but that would only be good in the short term
