Western Express Trucking is full of crap

Here's my thing. I feel that most people who are satisfied with a something they tend to barely speak their mind but when someone is pissed off, the first thing they want to do is put whatever, or whoever on blast for it. The same applies here. I know, I know I'm just another poster with no trucking experience but I'm here to learn. I'm on this website because in a month from now I'm planning to make a career change. A BIG one too. I'm going to go to Western Express' orientation, probably out of PA since I'm from NH, and no matter what I'm going to do it. I ave NO experience using my CDL-A I obtained through great schooling and I need to start somewhere. So I feel being picky is not an option. I chose Western over Swift because I saw LESS griping believe it or not.

That being said, I don't plan on making my whole career out of Western Express either. So is it hard to believe that some people need these bottom feeder companies to get their experience off on what is HOPEFULLY the right track? I mean countless companies won't even look my way with my lack of experience. I'm a ####### line cook going trucker. Is it cut out for me? I don't know. I'm a hard worker, and a fast learner. But will I succeed? I don't know. I have a good attitude so I would like to think I will. Will the company be the reason I don't succeed? Maybe...but I doubt it. I'm fairly certain I will be taken advantage of to some degree, but in my eyes that's no more than a rookie hazing in this industry. I'll be a greenhorn..and will more than likely be treated as such. But if I pull through it with a good attitude and do my job with minimal if not any griping, I think I'll be ok. If my paycheck is hardly nothing...then I will not continue to waste my time, but again...I'm in really no position to be picky.

Now what I want to know is...how can someone work 100 hours and get little to no paycheck? Are you working? Or do you consider sitting in your truck and waiting as working? I was told by a trucker with 20+ years of experience no BS that if the wheels aren't rolling, you aren't making money. That makes sense. So what do these companies like Western Express keep you waiting all the time? I'm not picking a bone with anyone on this post. I respect you ALL as you are all my peers in this industry. I'm trying to get a head start on what to expect. Thanks for reading, Bill. I mean no offense to anyone, either.

if you dont have jakes on your truck and you are going through the Rockies via I-70 or any state routes...you are getting placed out of service and fined big time. jakes are mandatory in the colorado mountains on all routes.

that he-man tough guy attitude is what gets people killed or hurt.

Could you cite your source with the statute and regulation? I'm going to trust that statement as far as I can throw a fridge.

I could write negative stuff about Western Express but it would take hours!! All I will say is they are a bunch of liners and care nothing about their drivers. I know several truck drivers with different companies, and by far WE is at the bottom. My advice: RUN as fast as you can!!
