I just wanted to let fellow drivers know about Arnold. They recently bought out a company called Prolinks in Baldwinsville, NY. I was hired on as a doubles driver, intending to run the thruway and mass pike. I was out of the industry since 2002, due to an accident, not my fault. I was up front with them about my lapse in trucking, although I have 14 years safe driving previous to 2002. After running 1 trip and starting my 2nd trip, they called me on the phone and told me to turn around and head back to the terminal due to an issue with safety. they didn't say what it was, just come in and call them in the morning. As instructed, I parked it for the night and went home, wondering what was going on. When I called in the morning, they said to come in to talk. Upon my arrival, I was instructed to clean out my truck because I couldn't work for them. They said they goofed and shouldn't have hired me because of their criteria of requiring drivers to have 1 year driving in the last 3 years. I argued that they had already hired me, but they said too bad. I quit my job because their recruiter told me I was all cleared to work there, went thru orientation, was all clear there also. End of story, I am now unemployed, and very angry. Beware if you apply there, the Baldwinsville office hasn't a clue about Arnolds hiring criteria, they are just filling seats. These are old Prolinks employees who did a poor job there, and are now working to bury Arnold. This criteria was NEVER mentioned to me before.

A little confused here. Last I knew, Arnold was bought by U.S. Xpress. My mother actually drives for Arnold as a local driver here in Texas, so I will double check and make sure another acquisition hasn't happened.
As for the hiring mistake, that was a bad break for you, but unfortunately, mistakes happen. Not sure if you have any legal grounds or not, but it wouldn't hurt to check. -
Did they fire you or did you quit? It's one or the other, as after all, you WERE hired on by these guys. If they "goofed", it's their own #### fault. What I'm getting at is if they fired you because of their screw-up, you can get unemployment benefits until you find another job. It sounds like your next job won't be in trucking, as we both know if you can't get hired on by a good (?) company that pulls doubles, there aren't many other options you will want to go with. I don't think there are ANY options you will want to go with, to be honest. Only crappy, fly-by-night outfits will hire you if you want to get that "one year in three" experience. With these dandy little stink-pot companies, you'll be driving a rattle-trap flat-top at 80 mph anywhere and everywhere on bald tires with a cracked windshield and busted mirrors. The exhaust will have a leak in it somewhere in front of you, meaning you will have to say goodbye to a bunch of your brain cells. Good ol' carbon monoxide, boy.
It sounds like you need to get retrained in something else, really. -

If you would read the op's first post slower he says that he was fired but he quit his other job that he had prior so he was able to take the position at Arnold once he was cleared to come to orentation for them. -
I had a friend who has 15 yrs otr. He had hurt his back a fews ago, required surgery. He could have went out on disability, but he chose to keep working as a driver, he disclosed all info to recruiter, drove 7 hrs to attend there class, his 2nd day they gave him a boot, do to safety concerns over his back, needless to say he was hot

One year or more verifiable otr in the last three seems to be the industry standard. At least for most of the larger companies.

Crummy deal all around. But like another poster said people make mistakes. As a experienced driver you did not know you might have to start all over agian after being out of a truck for 5 years?. I had to go to truck driving school even after being a O/O for 5 years becuase I ran Intrastate. Most of the companies said it was not OTR driving so it did not count. And treated me like a new driver agian. I just recently took a year off and some companies would not hire me becuase I did not have 6 months in the last year driving, let alone in the last 5 years.
The Insurance companies have most of these outfits by the you know what if they want to keep rates down. Some paper pusher screwed you, not the company.panhandlepat Thanks this. -
Yeah, I had an experience with ARNOLD as well. About 3 yrs ago ,I was going to work for them . I made the drive downto Texas,went thru orientation, physicals, etc. on last day , they sent everybody there home about 10 of us applied for regional., Except for 2 owner operators. I feltwl sorry for some of the guys that quit their jobs to come there. They did a background check and dac check before we even went down there but, I guess too many drivers applied and they really only needed 2 ??? I don't know but I'd think twice about applying with them. Thank goodness I drove down. Others had to ride a bus back home.

Does anyone know if arnold uses autos or not?

All of the red trucks are automatics. Notsure about the newer white Freightliner but the older ones were super 10's and I think that the KW's were straight 10's
