I`ve been at this trucking thing for 27 years...My shortest job 2 days..walked out of An orientation,Longest 5 years.Yes I have had many jobs, some lasting 2-3 yrs average,Alot of Great companies have gone out of Buisiness like Central Transport-High point,Nc and Jevic out of Delanco,Nj.those 2 I can say the very least were the Best 2 I ever had.I have seen alot of changes and alot of us "Old school" guys have. These guys just starting today don`t know how easy they have it,Better trucks, better technology etc.(Ok,Elogs suck)But what really gets me is when you apply to lets say "class A Drivers" and i know you can check off the boxes, the last time I didn`t,I wanted to see how many "Bottom Feeder`s"would call.I received over 30-40 calls from every big fleet Imaginable wanting me to come work for them and when i asked what sets your company apart from all these other Big fleets and they all claim that they are the "Best".Yeah right..My eye...
Most of them have insulted me by offering what they claim is good cpm,The average starting cpm was .35,thats an effing joke,I even had 1 tell me we will run you no less than 3000 miles a week...Lets just say that "Blue bird " recruiter was full of herself. Until any of these bigger fleets steps up and puts their money where their mouth is,puts it writing, kind of like a contract with stipulations require them to pay you a difference for shorting you the claimed miles they say they run,I myself will stick to much smaller family run company`s,Like the job I have now. My advice to the new guys,if you think you can make more money doing A L.P. deal..Guess again, and with fuel prices sky rocketing lately,i`m glad i no longer have my truck....Not being a "Crybaby" just tired of the lie`s.
