Basically, you're not officially employed at the company until they hand you the keys to a truck, and that's been with every company I have driven for. There's still a lot of things that can hamstring you while going through orientation, especially if you are late, can't pay attention, or even falling asleep in class.(although when I returned to my present company I showed up in the lobby on time, but the shuttle driver was so scared of the icy roads that I didn't get in until a full 1/2 hour late. Luckily so was everyone else in the office that morning.)some things don't pop up until later in the orientation period like bad marks on your record, etc. , so it's best that you fill out that application HONESTLY. Don't assume that just because the company you're applying for is looking for drivers, that you are guaranteed a job there.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the op reporting them as a bad company for not hiring a guy who couldn't stay awake during one of the most important days of the hiring process??
DriverMike1984 Thanks this. -
Oh please get off this guy falling asleep in boring orientation. Who hasn't done that. I dose off or go into lala land when they tell you the 15 things you must do to get paid for detention. Bahumbug la la la la Elmo's world.

I can honestly say I haven't. I'm not giving anyone another reason not to hire me!!! Lol

Well I feel sorry your out of a job and maybe u didn't know how things work... Always ask questions so u know upfront.
I've been here 6 years, there a solid company. They saw something they didn't like... (sleeping)
Dinomite maybe someone with exp... but I still wouldn't fall asleep... but a student... that doesn't look good.DriverMike1984 Thanks this. -
The last big orientation I went to was the short stint with prime and that was 30 people, most of it being computerized training along with the simulator (sorry to say this to the prime lease-op cheerleaders and recruiters, but that don't feel at all like the real thing, just a glorified video game). There was one guy with Parkinson's and his him had to be pretty bad. He was out of there and back on the bus before the end of day one. Most of these companies are paying pretty close attention to the daytime sleepiness what with DOT trying to regulate sleep apnea.
