I wasted a whole week at JR Schugel for $100... There was four of us from different areas along the east coast and out of the four only one got the position (he was a veteran with one million miles safe driving). The bus ride there wasn't too bad but it was off schedule so me and another guy got in extremely late and we were dead tired the next morning. Needless to say it was difficult to stay awake during orientation. No disrespect to the instructor at orientation but he didn't know how to keep our attention and involve us so we dozed off a few times. The weather there didn't help and the lack of trucks available for us to test out made it worst. Then they were saying were not officially employees until or four weeks of training, I'm new to this trucking business but I thought after the invite to a company and orientation you pretty much got the job. So me and the others started having doubts. Other drivers spoke pretty well of the company and assumed that we would have the job seeing as though we lasted more than half way to the end. The day comes were we take our road test, there were some minor things that needed to be adjusted for the first drive so he was given an extra shot which lead me to believe there is hope. When went out for my test he said little to nothing and said "your the captain of the ship" and we rolled. After that there were calls about other drivers having accidents and two drivers quit while the ones with repetitive accidents were given the chance to resign. The one was a first seat driver and was with them for a month and had three accidents already (two in the same day). After he talked with them he called us one by one in the office and said "due to our skill level we didn't qualify because they have seen drivers with our level of skill and it just didn't work out". In my head I lost my mind :biggrin_25510: What do you mean our level of skill???? You knew we were students who recently graduated and have had no experience with another trucking company, in my head I am saying (WTF do you mean our level of experience you dumb ###). I just quit my job for this opportunity to provide a better living for my family, the job I had didn't pay what I needed and I would have probably made the same amount with them, but the job I had wasn't offering benefits and I wasn't there long enough to take a vaca and they don't offer time off. You get paid for what you do and if your not there to do you don't get paid. So now I am with out work:biggrin_25513:

Maybe they thought if you could not stay awake in orientation you could not stay awake on the road!:biggrin_25518:

Dude there's a ton of companies out there. Stop crying on the internet and get some apps filled out. You can give you horror story about this company after you are gainfully employed

This is complete non sense. I'm at Schugel now! I can say this company is one of the best I've seen. Good vouchers for lunch and dinner. Single suites for all orientation attenders. Company van to use any time needed. Everyone at this company is friendly and helpful. All trucks 2012 or newer trailers are in beautiful condition other then the crap drivers that have put dings and dents on brand new 2014 refers. They just ordered 40 more freight liners and 40 more kenworths brand new. They're all about safety. They have great equipment all APU and actually the new trucks orders have the new evolution APU in them. This is just off the top of my head haven't actually driven miles for them but from what I've seen they beat all the other cdl mill companies by a long shot.

I smell ell somthing fishy going on here.

Nope, Dude. Just because you got an offer to go to orientation doesn't guarantee you a job. Orientation is a tryout. You didn't make the cut and I'm guessing that falling asleep didn't score you any extra credit points.

I've worked for Schugel. Not a bad company. Just wasn't for me. But worked out for a year.

A person doesn't have to drive for a Co. to notice things like meal vouchers, new, well taken care of equip and nice acomidations for orientation.
